What makes this really impressive is that Dorman is a REAL high school, not one of those charter teams that someone puts together with recruiting! The Cavs will play a very strong out of region schedule that features elite tournaments and games against national powers that will give them a chance to move up in those national rankings. And no matter what the results of those game are, the Cavs will be heavy favorites to claim a 3rd straight 5A basketball title and fourth straight title overall!

That's pretty impressive considering how some of these schools all over the nation get the best players I think it is pretty cool that a team from here in the upstate is ranked that high and wish them well if you don't mind posting the schedule somewhere

I had the pleasure of watching Dorman one game last year. They were without question, bar none the best team in the state. They had great talent and coaching. They also played a monster schedule and beat the A state champion (High Point Academy), AA state champion (Gray Collegiate) and the AAA state champion (Keenan, which was also Keenan's only loss).

I wouldn't say Dorman doesn't get transfers. They have two transfers this year on the team that were the best players on their former teams. They had two transfers last year as well.

Dorman defeated Peachtree Ridge, the defending 7A state champs from Georgia, 91-68 in its season opener in a game that really wasn’t even that close. The Cavs have a loaded roster of impressive players. You might say they are the Dutch Fork of SC 5A basketball!

Dorman, now 3-1, bounced back in a big way tonight from a tough close 63-52 loss to always powerful Oak Hill Academy (VA) last night. They defeated Huntington St. Joseph Prep (WV) 70-54 tonight. The Irish are ranked in the top 10 of many national polls so this victory will give the Cavs some true recognition from the nation’s elite. Next up, the Cavs play A tough road game at Ridge View tomorrow night. Dorman hasn’t lost to an in-state opponent in quite a while, but the Blazers, the defending 4A state champs, are a very strong opponent and the Cavs will have to be ready and bring their A-game yet again.

Dorman 77, Ridge View 57 behind PJ Hall’s 24 points and 9 boards. Next up is a game at 5A #2 Mauldin on Tuesday. Then the Chick-Fil-A Classic where the Cavs will open vs. 3A power Keenan..

Crossing gender lines, Dorman’s girls team lost AGAIN last night, an embarrassing 20-point loss to South Pointe. It might be time to think of showing Coach Valorie Whiteside the door. The program has been steadily declining under her and I happen to know many of the players on the team don’t like her. Plus she doesn’t handle player rotations in games very well and gets out-coached consistently. I fear the girls might actually lose to the Boiling Springs Bulldogs this season for the first time in decades. Losing to BS in any sport is a major transgression at Dorman. Besides, Whiteside doesn’t really need to coach. Her son JJ Arceaga-Whiteside is in the NFL now. He can take care of her.

Cavs defeat 5A #2 Mauldin 65-56 Tuesday in a tough road contest. Mavericks came out and punched the Cavs right in the mouth to start the game but the Cavs battled back for a hard-fought win in the region opener for both teams. Tonight the Cavs defeated defending 3A state champion Keenan 61-45 in the opening round of the Chic-Fil-A Classic in Columbia. The team is now 6-1 overall and 1-0 in the region and ranked 18th in the latest Max Preps national poll. Next up the winner of tomorrow’s Travelers Rest-Cannon (NC) game on Saturday afternoon.
