Week 0 roadtrip - South Florence vs Fort Dorchester

Post by SF Band dad »

I'll be leaving Flo-town around 3:00 to arrive at Perfectly Franks, Summerville around 5:00. Several HS football fans from various schools will be meeting there. I'm looking forward to enjoying good company and a gourmet hotdog or two.

After dinner I'll find my way over to Fort D. and settle in with the handful SF die-hards and parents that made the trip. I'll be scoring the game on ScoreStream if any of y'all want to check in and see how things are going.

South Florence, Fort Dorchester has turned into quite a matchup
SCOTT CHANCEY | Morning News | SCNow.com

FLORENCE — As fate would have it, Fort Dorchester football coach Steve Laprad called South Florence coach David Prince to propose a home-and-home series. “He called me and asked me if we wanted to do it, and I wanted a ‘Big 16’ opponent at the time for points (for the playoff bracket), so it seemed like a good idea to have one,” Prince said.

Neither coach could foresee what this would bring, considering South Florence (Class 4A, Division II) and Fort Dorchester (Class 4A, Division I) reached their respective state semifinals last year.

SCOTT CHANCEY | Morning News | SCNow.com

FLORENCE — South Florence quarterback Lindsey Robinson’s time has arrived. After waiting behind Nick Jones at quarterback, the senior will start his first varsity game when Class 4A’s ninth-ranked Bruins play 7:30 p.m. Friday at second-ranked Fort Dorchester.

Robinson has proven to Bruins coach David Prince he’s ready after completing 15 of 21 passes for 318 yards and three touchdowns during last week’s jamboree against Georgetown.
