Who you got this year?
I got my Green Wave, just like I would any other year.
Honestly the favorites in D2 would be:
-Northwestern: a lot of talented players returning. D1 college QB w/ weapons surrounding.
-Goose Creek: when's the last time they actually lost a game on the field.
but at 22 on the 135 day ADM they might be D1 come playoff time.
-South Pointe: always talented
-Greenwood: always loaded
-North Augusta- came awfully close to knocking off eventual state champ GWD. Anybody familiar with what they have coming back?
-Bluffton will have to find replacements for the talented QB and WR combo they had last year.
Should be fun!

Maybe the easiest pick, but not a gimmie as you note below.EHSMeanGreen wrote:Honestly the favorites in D2 would be:

You just got a lot of heads turning there... "WHAT? DIVISION ONE!"EHSMeanGreen wrote:-Goose Creek: when's the last time they actually lost a game on the field.

Becoming the norm to list them among the favorites isn't it?EHSMeanGreen wrote: -South Pointe: always talented
But they don't seem to get the talk until the end of the year...EHSMeanGreen wrote: -Greenwood: always loaded
They just outscore everyone the past few years... Do I remember a 58-56?? Game recently...EHSMeanGreen wrote: -North Augusta- came awfully close to knocking off eventual state champ GWD. Anybody familiar with what they have coming back?
They have time, they don't play anyone until the playoffs start (NEWCAT, I had to do it...)EHSMeanGreen wrote: -Bluffton will have to find replacements for the talented QB and WR combo they had last year.
Yes it should be a great season and you only covered D2 for us! There is still D1 with Byrnes, Gaffney, Dutch Fork, and I think Dorman will be back this season and maybe we hear from the Lower State this season???EHSMeanGreen wrote: Should be fun!

Yes, he did. But that means 6 larger schools would have to not make the playoffs for that to happen. Seriously. How likely is that?Rebel-Fan-74 wrote:You just got a lot of heads turning there... Well,..... lets look at last year's results and this years 135-ADM to see if 6 larger schools didn't make the playoffs.

Six? No, not six...... Eight of them did not make the playoffs.
1. SUMTER 2338
2. WEST ASHLEY 2136
3. MAULDIN 2102
4. FORT DORCHESTER 1996
5. CLOVER 1972
6. CAROLINA FOREST 1944
7. ROCK HILL 1941
8. LEXINGTON 1843
GOOSE CREEK 1737

Re: Who you got this year?
Not in numeric order, but by order of ease to pick... here are my SWAG at the Region Champions.
Region One: They didn't lose much from last year, at least not enough to make me pick against them in this region, so GREENWOOD is the pick.
Region Seven: Does any one think GOOSE CREEK may come out with a chip on their shoulder? I honestly think they would play tomorrow night if they could ..
Region Three: From what I read, hear and see, Northwestern may have the best team they have fielded in some time and while the schedule is tough, most of the BIG GAMES are at home, so NORTHWESTERN gets the nod here.
Region Four: I think this team has been quiet for too long and will again make some noise... IRMO
Region Eight: Bluffton will be off and running, passing, etc in the beginning, but do they have enough to keep it going thru the Region portion of the schedule. Only bump in the road could be just a wave... so BLUFFTON
Region Five: If North Augusta can muster up some defense, they go deep into the playoffs... Dutch Fork may be the only team in Region they have trouble with... maybe too much trouble....DUTCH FORK
Region Six: Actually the easiest to pick... put all the names in the hat and pick one... West Florence on the fourth tie breaker.
OK, there you have it....
Oh wait, Region Two.....
Most of the folks are saying it comes down to Byrnes-Gaffney while a few Viking fans think Coach Miller puts them back on the map in his first season. Dorman folks are awful quiet and that makes me wonder what's up in Roebuck? I'm sorry but I am just a bit biased on this one, but history has taught us that winning Region 2 doesn't always matter come the first weekend in December. Many times recently, the second place team in Region 2 has won a State Championship. I do think that it is important to have the re-match at your place, but a couple of times the re-match has been in Columbia or Clemson. I'm going to step out on a limb and say that no team from Region 2 will be 11-0 when all is said and done.... but I am in the group that says the showdown between the Rebels and Indians will go a long way to determine the Region, but I'm not 100% sure that either team will be 5-0 in Region Play. However, I will go with Gaffney to win the Region because they are defending champs and they do have a great deal of returning talent.
Now, I do see it as a 50.1% to a 49.9% for either team and depending on how the brackets play out, a rematch in Columbia is not out of the question.
All eight regions may have favorites, but, deep down, I have a hunch that there are a couple of surprises out there this season that none of us are seeing as of yet.....

Region Three: From what I read, hear and see, Northwestern may have the best team they have fielded in some time and while the schedule is tough, most of the BIG GAMES are at home, so NORTHWESTERN gets the nod here. {As my Esteemed Colleague, B#1 would say... ."BAM! NEXT!" }
Region Four: I think this team has been quiet for too long and will again make some noise... IRMO {You have to give me partial credit, Irmo made some noise late and the winner was a team that had been quiet for too long.... it was just Spring Valley and not Irmo... }
Region Eight: Bluffton will be off and running, passing, etc in the beginning, but do they have enough to keep it going thru the Region portion of the schedule. Only bump in the road could be just a wave... so BLUFFTON {Oooops, there is a turn in the punch bowl!!! }
Region Five: If North Augusta can muster up some defense, they go deep into the playoffs... Dutch Fork may be the only team in Region they have trouble with... maybe too much trouble....DUTCH FORK {Still to be determined, but I even had BOTH teams picked here..... that should be extra credit!!! }
Region Six: Actually the easiest to pick... put all the names in the hat and pick one... West Florence on the fourth tie breaker.
{I swear, I go my directions mixed up, I meant SOUTH... not buying it huh? }

I am very proud of this team! They have worked hard all year long. A happy ride back from Williams Brice is very possible!!!!}
All eight regions may have favorites, but, deep down, I have a hunch that there are a couple of surprises out there this season that none of us are seeing as of yet....{Boy was I right here!!! Hillcrest is the story of the year in the Upstate while South Florence has to be the story of the year for the Pee Dee Region and Spring Valley for the Midlands. We finish out another regular season tomorrow night and it's been a good one for SC Football. It's been a good one for SCPREPTALK.COM as well, and I think it can continue with the core of folks we have and if we keep adding more. }.
