Hartsville hires Harley as new athletic director

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – For Barry Harley and his family, an introduction Thursday at Hartsville High School was very much like a homecoming, he said.

“It really is a coming home for us,” Harley said after being introduced as the Red Foxes' new athletic director. “My wife’s a graduate of Cheraw High School, and her father is head football coach at Cheraw. But we met in Darlington, and our daughter was born here, so it’s just a very unique and special time for us. It really is.”

Residents of Darlington County will remember the name, as Harley served at St. John’s High School from 1988-1995 as a teacher, football coach and athletic director.

I remember Coach Harley when i was at North Charleston high, my soph, and Jr years there before going to Fort D. he is a very nice guy,
