This game is what Barnwell Warhorses have been waiting on since playing Abbeville last year in the championship. Should be a great game though.Warhorse do have a great offense with Pender at QB and great receivers for him to throw to. Their Linebacker Deshuan Watson is all over the field and very hard to contain . This team is a class act with a great coach in Coach Garrick .

It is sad that the SCHSL cares absolutely nothing for 1A and 2A schools in SC. Seems all they care about are the bigger schools in the state. The SCHSL needs to look into finding a better stadium for the 1A and 2A to play in for their state championship games. Anyone have a comment on this matter.

Agree 100%. Use to play them all in Willy B. Friday and Saturday, called it weekend of champions (WOC). Those kids deserve it just as much as the others

I couldn't agree with this more. All the games are important. Not just 3a and up. They used to do a two day deal where little 32 4A was Friday night and the rest were Saturday. The early game Saturday was around 10am. I liked it much better that way. All the games should be at the same venue.

To add, when the league made the changes to play the 2a and 1a games at the smaller venue, they allegedly said it was to accommodate the smaller crowds in smaller stadium so the game atmosphere would be better. True or not I still believe the smaller schools deserve to play at the same venue as the bigger schools.

Totally agree about the game site for 1A, 2A. It's more about the kids being able to enjoy playing in the big college stadium. Numbers wise, you dont need WB even for the bigger classifications. Could play it at a Wofford, SC State, and accommodate the numbers. Hopefully they will work it out down the road and let those kids also enjoy the thrill of playing in the big setting

i think they should have kept all the games at W-B I still have the
2000 weekend of champions program.my son-in-law and me went down
on Friday.Watched Greenwood and Aiken.spent the night and went
to all the games on saturday.my 96 Wildcats beat Lamar and Abbeville
lost to Silver bluff.i still have my program from the 1982 Barnwell-96
state championship game.cost .50 cents.man that 37 years went by fast.
looking at the 1982 program Barnwell had 1 player that was over 200 lbs.
their center weighed 220.

To me, high school football means one thing; Friday night. I say all games should be on Friday night at neutral stadiums. Of course, this will generate less money and money controls everything now.

as far as small crowds, what would happen is, fans for the next game would show up for the 2nd half of the previous game, so the crowds could get pretty big.

For example, Lamar playing in the 1A title game at 11 A.M., Gaffney vs. Summerville at 2 P.M. A lot of Gaffney and Summerville fans would be at the 2nd half of the Lamar game and it could be a HUGE crowd. It went on like that all day

the only drawback to the way they use to do it was if you were playing in the game, you warmed up on Bluff road, walked to the stadium, warmed up for like 10 minutes and then played. After the game there was a rush to get you out of there

you did not spend as much time on the stadium turf both before or after the game

Still like the old way. Saw Jewel McLaurin's Lakeview Gators a few times and was very impressed. Also J.R. Boyd's teams from Lamar (you talk about good looking players, wow)

have not seen a 1A or 2A game in years
