Id really like to know about a story i read on a highschool football forum some time ago .im searching for the link.
But according to that which was typed some kid in his mid teens got boxed in the mouth by tom through the fence.i do not know this to be true .but according to the story he walked over there was some jawing ole boy hit the fence which the kids face was on.i dont know what was said either. If that story is true it dont sound very good for a character reference. I mean any school could find someone to go over there and remove the guys.
If it was a 13 14 year old it would be a problem if it was a 18 yr old then maybe not so much.a lot of grey area for a story i dont know that is true.
.
"Some kid in his mid teens. I don't know this to be true." Really?!?
Butler JV game 2007. Butler wins at the end of the game. After the game an absent father comes to the fence and is screaming at the Indy players in the end zone. His son is a starter that he had very little contact with and it was the first high school game he had attended. Father is talking dog shite to the coaches and players. The son was begging the father to leave. Literally crying and standing by the end zone fence. Was told by a few others the father appeared to be a bit unsteady but the police never reported that but do not think he was tested in any way. A young assistant walks over and he receives more smack. The assistant told me the father said the coaches sucked and should all be fired for being fools. Second JV loss in eight seasons. (I did think they made a stupid call at the end.)
The man's father, grandfather of the player, is trying to get the man to leave. Knotts walks over and speaks to the father through the fence that separates them. It appeared from a distance they are having a regular conversation. The father starts rocking the fence back and forth within inches of Knotts' face in a fairly strong manner. Knotts grabs the fence causing the parent to slam face first into it with his momentum. Cut the man's face and bloodied his nose. Knotts just turned and walked off, like no big deal. Father's response was that Indy coaches needed thicker skin and you go to the games to get on the coaches and players.
Knotts was suspended for the Butler varsity game the next night (21-20 Butler win) while the school system investigated. The Matthews PD (Butler is in Matthews) did not file charges. Do not think there was a complaint by the man but from accounts the police gathered they stated Knotts did not initiate any contact. He missed the first round playoff game. The following Monday the school system stated that Knotts should not have approached the fan nor engaged him and that was the end of it. He had no writeups nor any further punishment. When called out for the missed games the school system stated that was not punishment as he was paid his salary and stipend during the investigation.
