Re: Emerald
Both jobs (Greenwood and Emerald) did all their interviewing yesterday. Should be a decision later this week. I've been told the decision will not have to wait until the January board meeting, which probably mean a special called board meeting or just an approval by the board and the new hires can be announced. I expect both new coaches to be announced later this week.

Emerald's selection committee is about as bad as it gets.
Only one true "football guy" and that's McMahon himself...

Hearing they gave three internal guys a chance to interview.lifecoach wrote:Do you know who are the candidates for the Emerald job??
It's a mess. A lot of in-house politics and conflict.
I feel bad for whoever gets it. McMahon's son will be the biggest obstacle.

I was told from reliable source (same person that told me Mac was out) that Neal is still in it. Probably not gonna get the job, but he's certainly still in it.viking4life wrote:No one from inside was given interviews. Coach Neal is out.

Mac needs to be far far away from the hiring process. Emerald needs a coaching enema!!

Well, he's on the committee and he is pushing to be part of the new coach's staff in 2020.
It's the most dysfunctional coaching situation in the state and it's because of him.

Re: Emerald
What is apparent and always has been is that Tim McMahon is loyal to a fault.
His son is on staff.
He brought Chris Deal, an average coach, back into the fold and treated him like he was Nick Saban.
He keeps Sorrow around and lets him run that basketball program that has 2 wins (both against 1A schools) and likely won't win another game this season.
D50 absolutely shouldn't have let him have a say in the hiring process but they did. He is protecting "his" guys and always will. Whoever takes that HC job will always have to look over his shoulder.
