I'm starting to think that Rush Propst could kill somebody and would still get hired somewhere else because he wins football games.

The guy is clearly not a good person.

Well, some people are saying he had issues with the higher ups and a lot of the "allegations" were trumped up to get rid of him. I don't know it to be true. Just rumors.

If this was the first time he had issues, I would believe that. But after Hoover, his almost hiring as an offensive consultant at Alabama until details of his personal life came out, head butting a player, and several other things, I find it hard to side with the guy. And I was once a huge fan of his when I was starting out in coaching. Went to clinics to hear him speak, found every article I could, watched Hoover film, read his program building stuff.

Those are all great points. I also heard that Propst fired a coach on his staff at Colquitt a few years ago that ended up being hired as the Colquitt AD while Propst was still there. Then a year or 2 later Propst was fired lol.......

Propst is often his own worst enemy. Like a lot of ultra successful football coaches, at any level, he figures he is so powerful that he almost ignores his administration. Then he finally ruffles enough feathers of those that have the power to fire him. Does he recruit, and draw players to him by the success of his program? Sure. Seen that happen at a few places in SC. Does he sometimes lean on the faculty to give players a break on grades? Sure. That has also happened in SC. The head butting incident? The kid had a helmet on. The only damage done was the gash Propst put in his own head. But like a lot of very successful coaches, he has blinders on as he knows that whether it is a Hoover, Colquitt, or now at Valdosta, that the expectation is to win. And to win at an elite level. His predecessor at Valdosta won a state championship about three years ago, but then couldn't get past the quarterfinals in the playoffs. That wasn't good enough and he got fired. Propst has his personal flaws. But he also knows that in the jobs he has had that winning is the absolute bottom line. And at that, he is as good as there is.

Daniel was supposed to play Rabun this year until covid killed that game . Would’ve loved to have seen that go down.
