Hyatt to IMG

Post by DFOLDMAN »

DF JR WR Devin Hyatt has transferred to IMG Academy. Wish him all the best in Florida. Leaves DF with Williams and Sowell at WR with some good underclassmen to help fill the void. Honestly, Jarvis Green is a solid WR option as well if truth be told. A couple years back Ron Hoff transferred to Katy Texas and Graeson Underwood was out the entire season with an injury...but Coach Knotts still found a way. Looking forward to seeing the QB competition and how Appler and Patterson play out.

Not really sure. Usually a move like that is to help attract bigger offers, but he already had Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee. Maybe Clemson or Ohio State? Might be to help work on some areas of perceived weakness- not sure. I think the family is moving to Florida as well, so it may have been a good fit overall. Jalen was a true ambassador for DF and Devin is a class act as well- really good young men. Nothing but the best for them. When Ron Hoff moved to Texas to spend time with family there- he was a 3 year starter and probably the best RB in SC that year before the move to Katy. He demonstrated DF heart on the biggest HS football stage in America. He put Katy on his back against North Shore and beat the #1 team in Texas and the US at the time. I hope Devin can do the same for IMG...as long as they don't play DF...haha. Knotts has a couple of really good young WRs in the wings, including one of Matt Colburn's younger brothers...and Jarvis Green has played WR a great deal as well. We will still have the best WR unit in the state and will be a lot of fun to watch- a couple of good QBs to spread the ball around.

he's got the offers. Now he needs to work on his game against the best competition (games and practice)

DF won't miss him

DF will definitely miss his talent, but they have enough depth that it won't hurt them too bad. Maybe I am missing something, but this move just doesn't make sense. I saw on Twitter where his dad said something about this being part of a "40 year decision as opposed to a 4 year decision. That relates more to college choice. I could see it if he didn't get much pub at DF and they felt they needed to raise his platform. But about everybody has offered that can offer. I get it I guess. Going to IMG sends the message that you are an elite player. But I bet there are tons of kids that went to IMG that down the line look back and regret that decision. Wish they had stayed at their high school and enjoyed their friends, family, and teen years, instead of taking off for a football factory. You are only young once. Maybe slow down and enjoy it instead of thinking the NFL draft is right around the corner.

Wishing him all the best very respectful young man and great family. That said Appler or whoever wins the starting job will have plenty of targets to get the ball to. Antonio Williams is going to have a big year!
