What are the tie breakers in regions?
I am not familiar with SC region tie breakers. But a region like 4A Region 4 looks like Flora, Irmo & Westwood will all finish 4-1 in region and RNE, Dreher & Lugoff-Elgin will finish 1-4. The State Newspaper says if the is the order of finish Flora will be 1 Westwood 2 and Irmo 3. But how is that determined? Thanks

Working on those. Will be posting more details about as many as I can ASAP.RetiredTXCoach wrote: ↑Mon Oct 25, 2021 8:36 amI am not familiar with SC region tie breakers. In SCHSL, each region can determine their own tiebreakers.
There 37 are different regions from 5A to 1A , so you can have 37 different tiebreakers.
And they can change from season to season.
These are voted on each year.
2-way tie is of course Head-to-Head.
If 4A Region 4 finishes in a 3A way tie....
Potential 3-way tie if they all win
UPDATED
*3-way Tiebreaker – Points allowed amongst tied teams
• A.C. Flora win, Irmo win, Westwood win
1. A.C. Flora
- a. 3-way tie for 1st
i. A.C. Flora (14+28=42)
ii. Irmo (27+42=69)
iii. Westwood (34+37=71)
3. Irmo

Re: What are the tie breakers in regions?
Region II in 5A is the craziest tiebreaker that I've found...
Score differential at the end of the 3rd quarter. I have no idea why they chose this as the tiebreaker, I have no idea how it correlates to the game since in both cases, the team that was ahead at the end of the 3rd lost the game. Byrnes was losing by one to Dorman but leading Spartanburg by 7.
Byrnes........... -1............+7.........= +6
Dorman......... +1........................= +1
Spartanburg.. .................-7.........=. -7
Byrnes is done, 1-1 and +6 points.
Dorman is now 0-1 and +1 point.
Spartanburg is. 1-0 and -7 points.
So if Dorman wins Friday Night, the next thing you need to know, what was the score at the end of the 3rd quarter?
Let's recap:
If Spartanburg wins the game:
#1 Spartanburg 4-0
#2 Byrnes 3-1
#3 Dorman 2-2
That is the easy part....
However, should Dorman win the game:
3 way tie with all teams 3-1 and it gets really messy, but I think this is the way it works out.... but, it's about as clear as the Middle Tyger River after five days of gully washing rain storms.... y'all know what a gully washer is don't you?
And the score at the end of 3rd quarter shows:
Dorman up by 6 or more
#1 Dorman
#2 Spartanburg
#3 Byrnes
Dorman up by 5 or less:
#1 Byrnes
#2 Dorman
#3 Spartanburg
Spartanburg up by 14 or more:
#1 Spartanburg
#2 Byrnes
#3 Dorman
Spartanburg up by 13 or less:
#1 Byrnes
#2 Dorman
#3 Spartanburg

Re: What are the tie breakers in regions?
Thank you everyone for the update, Really sounds crazy. I think the state league should standardize the tiebreakers

Re: What are the tie breakers in regions?
In the past, there was a state wide system for 4A (when it was the top level) and a points system. There was also cross brackets for playoffs in 4A with no regard for UPPER and LOWER state.
Then they went with "everyone on the same system" for the playoffs, but allowed each Region to break the tie and submit the final standings to the SCHSL.

Updated the 4A Region 4 scenarios with the correct Tiebreaker 4A Region 4.RetiredTXCoach wrote: ↑Mon Oct 25, 2021 8:36 amI am not familiar with SC region tie breakers. Points against among tied teams instead of Points against in all region games.
Outcome would be the same as the other tiebreaker for 1st place, changes 4th place.
