While there are no "IOWA -vs- PENN STATE" type match ups this week; one has to wonder if there are any
Texas A&M -vs- Alabama match ups?
Any big upsets that will have a direct impact on the College Football Playoffs?
The only thing that even comes close... Kentucky -vs- Georgia
I'm not picking that upset!

Re: College Football Playoff Projections & (Clemson's destination)
Another week down, another upset...
Goodbye Iowa, thanks for stopping by. Two teams are listed in all the projections now, Georgia - no surprise there and the Buckeyes of Ohio State. Projections show them winning out to take the BigTen and get in to the playoffs.
Of the seven projections, only 3 believe Alabama makes it back while 5 of the 7 have Cincinnati making the cut. Only 5 teams are mentioned in the playoff projections.
If I had to guess, this is how I see it playing out:
SEC Championship will have undefeated Georgia and one loss Alabama and Alabama wins. Alabama and Georgia in the Playoffs
BIGTEN Ohio State and an undefeated Michigan meet in the regular season final and Michigan finally gets a win over Ohio State for Jim Harbaugh and then loses to the one loss Iowa in the BigTen championship.
BIG XII/SEC soon to be Oklahoma somehow manages to win out and faces Oklahoma State in the final week of the season and then again in the Championship game. Those two wins propel them to the CFP.
Since the BIGTEN ends up in Iowa's hands, the loss to Purdue hurts them and they end up in Pasadena in the Rose Bowl while Cincinnati gets to face Alabama and gets smoked in the Semifinals, while Georgia and Oklahoma meet in the other Semifinal and the Dogs dominate and we get Georgia-Alabama again in the National Championship.

One thing is for certain, the ACC will not have a team in the CFP this year.

Re: College Football Playoff Projections & (Clemson's destination)
Ohio State is back in all eight of the projections I have looked at...
Michigan is not in a single one! So they are all projecting the Fightin Jim Harbaugh's to lose at least one game before Selection time. I find that I agree with them on this subject. I think they will have their hands full this week against Sparty and I think the Buckeyes will get them and end up in the BIG TEN Championship (on a side note, isn't it about time to change the name from BIG TEN to something more accurate?).
Georgia is travelling to Jacksonville for the Worlds Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party, oops I'm supposed to be Politically Correct and not say that, but after living through it 4 times in my Navy career in Jacksonville, it's hard to forget. Florida is not what they usually are this season but it is still a bitter rivalry game, so don't expect Georgia to be overlooking the Gators at all. The only real chance for an upset left on the schedule in my mind as I don't see Tennessee pulling one this year and Charleston Southern and Georgia Tech are not pulling an upset... Georgia to the SEC Championship should be pretty solid after Saturday's Nationally Televised event on CBS, I didn't call it that other name! The only questions will be, who do they play (Alabama) and do they still make the Playoffs is they lose (the answer is yes they would, but they will not lose and the question becomes, does a 10-2 Alabama deserve a bid, and that will depend on what happens to everyone else, but I doubt they will get in.).
Oklahoma just squeaks by Kansas.... KANSAS!!! ... and they are still getting all that respect? Only Athlon.COM is not including the Sooners and College Football Network is projecting a Sooners win over the Buckeyes to get to the National Championship game! I'm afraid I cannot see the Sooners getting to 13-0 which I believe is the number for them to make the CFP. A loss and they are falling to the bottom of the Top Ten at the very least.... if not further.
Cincinnati is getting tons of respect from the AP and Coaches Polls, but what will the Committee do? I'm going to say they are there as long as they go undefeated as the Committee will feel "obligated" to give them a chance, and I have to agree that they should get the opportunity to prove they belong. I know the "schedule" conversation that everyone will want to throw out there, they played no one, Notre Dame isn't that good, etc etc and etc and if they were in the SEC they would be 7-5 at best. Well, they have beaten everyone they played and Notre Dame has only one loss (to the Bearcats at home) and etc and etc and etc is all just excuses and maybe they would be 7-5 in the SEC, but maybe they would be 11-1, we don't know. I mean, they always give Notre Dame the benefit of the doubt, why not Cincinnati?
As for Clemson, currently at 4-3 with this remaining:
Sat, Oct 30 vs Florida State (likely a W)
Sat, Nov 6 @ Louisville (likely a W)
Sat, Nov 13 vs UConn (if this is a L, then Dabo is in SERIOUS TROUBLE)
Sat, Nov 20 vs Wake Forest (at Death Valley, coming off a BYE for the most part, I'm thinking W)
Sat, Nov 27 @ South Carolina (a 2-0 W in the 7th OT)
I see the Tigers finishing 9-3 as at least possible, but 8-4 the most likely, and 7-5 not likely to me. So at 8-4 I think the Gator Bowl is out, but we all know that Bowl committees look at fan base travelling as much as they do the teams... so still possible. The Tigers in NY City would be great for the fans and a match up against a BIG TEN team (Purdue showing in this week's projection) would be something worth seeing but a match up with Notre Dame is very likely something folks would like to see. I don't like the Mayo Bowl, regardless of the match up, but both projections this week could be fun, I'd rather see the Florida game. A match up with Utah and the Sun Bowl, nah, no good!
