I guess SC high school league is basically telling 1 and 2A scholls with towns of 1500 and less to go screw themselves. Lamar township has 1097 people. Simpsonville has a population if over 22,000 to recruit from. Very fair......
Abbeville has won 7 out of the last 10 State Championship and we are talking about fairness? You guys have destroyed Calhoun falls athletics and your kids get to choose Dixie or Abbeville. Abbeville County has 24k ... give me a break. Because Gray has the audacity to beat you guys it is somehow a grave injustice. You guys should worry less about Athletics and more about graduation rates and sending you athletes to college. Your school is in shambles and instead of combining with Dixie and building a brand new school for your student body your worried about a football field and school colors. 90 percent of those kids end up doing nothing after playing for the BIG A? WHY ? NO grades or Test Scores .. so before we start talking about fairness fix the issues in your house. FYI South Carolina Dept of Education allows Families school choice of any Public or Charter school. Its state law and it aint gonna change. As far and Lamar and SSC goes, I could care less. So tired of hearing people complain... The large public school get mass transfers in every year... and you guys don't say a word. FYI KZ Adams has been at Gray for 4 years.
It sounds good to someone else abbeville has in the last 10 years had more kids in college than the previous 20yrs. Every Saturday I turn on the TV I can watch multiple Panthers playing. Don't know if you know this but parents have a lot to do with test scores. But it's some studs that get overlooked from abbeville because the workload on the field is spread out among many players. They could easily run 1 back for 2000 every year if need to. But trust me when the colleges get them there they are impressed. It's only that now Charter, Private schools injecting their power into winning football that's it's a problem around the state. Volleyball 1A 2A 3A champions non public schools...check finals and semi finals in baseball, basketball, soccer, tennis, and Softball and other sports and you decide if the playing field is level. Kids basically have 4 hrs of classroom. 4hrs to workout to become better athletes. That's the part that isn't mentioned.
I will have to take you word for it on the colleges. But after checking some local rosters their aren't that many. Private and Charters school are always going to beat the more rural schools in soccer, golf, volleyball , basketball etc. Why? because they have travel teams and club teams that play year around. Does Abbeville have club volleyball, travel soccer etc. No they dont .. if a kid in Abbeville wants to go play club or travel they have to go to Greenville, Columbia or maybe Greenwood... nothing sinister about it... it's just reality.
Trai Jones playing OL/FB at USC
JD Moore started RB at Charleston all year had injuries but started.
Nate Temple at Pittsburgh
Cruz Temple at East Carolina
Dee Harris at South Carolina state
Jaylen Schuler was at butler just committed to South Florida.
This off one team at abbeville not previous but currently.
You are correct about the club sports. Small town abbeville hasn't lost to Greenwood teams in boys basketball in awhile. Volleyball also the Lakelands player of ther year 2021 in volleyball is a sophomore at abbeville. You talk abbeville as we don't produce college kids maybe that was 25 yrs ago true. But in the last 15yrs it's a big difference. I'm just saying the playing field isn't level at way more sports than football but people don't talk about as much. As far as Test scores better check this school that is shambles has higher scores than many in the surrounding counties. Our tax base isn't on the level as other counties. Thanks for pointing out how abbeville wins despite our sub par facilities. Wonder what other teams problem 🤔

I don't think there is anyone that doesn't respect abbeville... I know I certainly do. The rural schools are going to be at a disadvantage in most of the sports where travel / year around development is a big deal. I am also not sure how rural abbeville is considering how close they are to GW. Really thinking more lower state. The rural schools will always have a chance in the blue collar sports. But VB, GOLF, soccer etc are going to be hard just because it's not in that towns DNA. Good baseball teams kids play travel ball , softball and VB and it is less likely that kids do the farther you are away for major cities. SC is a very unique place in that regard. My comment about kids not playing at the college level was more so based on the last 10 years. AV has produced a ton of top flight kids .. but many of them don't go anywhere and a program with that much success it would be nice to see more of the good players ( not GREAT) ones moving on and furthering their education. Would love to see more kids in SC at D3 and NAIA type places because I believe the talent is there. Lower school (rural ) has some really quality players that never seem to get the opportunity .. so either the coaches are doing a good job selling them or their are grade issues. Here in columbia ... club teams are everywhere and that is where colleges are going to see kids. HS sports outside of football is becoming less important for college recruitment.

My point of my post was not to include the d3 or Naia guys...so my logic if people don't see the d1 power 5 guys playing no one notice. I didn't even mention the best rb ever Courtney Jackson or others. The pipeline alone at Newberry that has gave abbeville more than 5 college graduates itself. My whole mindset when you took your jab at abbeville is you actually don't know. Not one time did you mention your school you just said what you thought abbeville didn't do. I'm a proud graduate of abbeville high class of 1997 played for one of the best teams in the state the undefeated 1996 abbeville high school team and also went to school for free on my back before social media from abbeville. It goes without saying Don't think the kids don't try their hardest no matter what. I really just wanted to be informative because it's a lot of misinformation and misconception about abbeville. Go Panthers class of 1997 will always be the best Panthers
