what did clinton fans think of their former coach andy webb?
i don't think he had a winning season in the four years he was there but also the program wasn't in the best of shape when he took over. just wondering what the clinton folks thought of him? Seems he is doing great at saluda as oc.

This is not all that uncommon in many professions. Folks forget that being a Coordinator is not the same as being a Head Coach. It's good that you noticed and mentioned him! Most folks just focus on the stint as a HC and think, "He's a sorry coach!" Very different being a coordinator than a head coach!
Happens in business all the time. Just because you are a good "team leader" doesn't mean you'd make a good "Shift Supervisor". It's easy to reach a level that is just too much for a person. I had it happen to one of my staff. Once I realized they had reached that situation, I quietly moved them back to the previous role and announced that his loss at that level was too great and too difficult to fill and that he had willingly taken his old position until we could "grow" a replacement.

Have seen it a bunch of times at all levels. Some guys are great assistants, but just aren't head coaches for some reason. Everybody thinks that an assistant on a successful program knows the code to make any other program successful. But there is much more to being a head coach than just calling plays.

am guessing they don't miss him with 4 straight losing seasons

that's why i asked. i don't know the story, but wanted to know if it was him, lack of talent, lack of support, etc that contributed to those seasons. sometimes good coaches are in bad spots. was just curious as i am not familiar with the inner workings of the red devils.Onion Rings wrote: ↑Mon Jan 24, 2022 10:19 amam guessing they don't miss him with 4 straight losing seasons
