Ya'll couldn't get him?
Re: Chapin QB
With Appler coming back, the Chapin QB may have wanted to look at IMG. Appler has D1 offers already as a backup. He has the tools. 6'4" 200 lbs+ and a strong arm and mobile. So we will see. Learning the system, and should be ready by the fall.

Really a bit of a shame to see some of these kids run to an IMG. He is a good player. Already being recruited heavily, so not a ton of upside. I bet a lot of those kids that take this type of route will look back a few years down the road and regret their decision. Figure they will wish they had enjoyed their senior year with their friends and the guys they grew up playing with as opposed to being just another number on a glorified all star team.

A few years ago the talk was that DK would go to IMG. As you said, "made no sense"! FBS schools already know who you are and what you can do. Now, just go play ball and graduate with your friends!
He stayed and won a State Championship with his friends. Something he will be able to talk about when he's old and gray! He still got the FBS offer/opportunity!
**only thing that it could have done for him specifically is put him at WR sooner instead of him playing QB at South Pointe. At IMG he would have been playing WR or possibly CB against good competition which could have helped some(not going to lie). But, it has worked out for him.
Demonte Capehart from Hartsville went down there too, right years ago? I don't think it elevated his position a great deal(could be wrong). The lure is: "we get you ready for college better"!
But, they are pretty much getting ready made talent on day one of enrollment to IMG. XT - same thing! Didn't help or hurt his position as far as a recruit goes.
**if you are a 1A player that plays in a region that's not very good - IMG might be a good move! Especially if you are playing "way out of position"! Like you are asked to play DE and you are a CB type situation! OR you're in a school that runs it 97% of the time; but you are the next Calvin Johnson - IMG might help you! If you are already known; i'm with you it makes no sense to me to go there.
Just a good "marketing system" really!
Choose to Lead or you should choose to "get out the way" of those who will lead!
Re: Chapin QB
The question I would ask is will he be playing on the "National Team" or the "AAA Florida HS League team"? A coach I know had one of his players go there and didn't make the cut to play on the "National" team. Things are not always as they seem, no guarantees.

Re: Chapin QB
what is the football situation at Chapin as far as the coach, and the teams they have fielded?
agree he should stay and play with his classmates. If he's that good, they could have a great season

Re: Chapin QB
I know the QB lost his best WR and RB to graduation, and not real sure what they had in the way of backups. Those two made his life easier, for sure. Chapin seems to usually have a pretty good OL, but I just don't know what he had to work with coming back at the skill positions.Onion Rings wrote: ↑Thu Feb 10, 2022 12:39 pmwhat is the football situation at Chapin as far as the coach, and the teams they have fielded?

IMG got the younger Hyatt that was a top notch WR that Dutch Fork should have had for the 2021 season and the 2022 season, but he jumped ship. Not sure if that would have made a difference- you can what if it to death- but he is good.
IMG is an attractive place to land for a HS player, that is for certain.
