Just heard Kevin Melton on radio saying Spring Valley is #2 seed due to tiebreakers???

Spring Valley doesn't have any half point bonus points so how are they the #2 seed? They can't be tied with Hillcrest can they?

I had Summerville's mark-offs wrong. Hillcrest is the #2 seed.

It's a little insulting to those Region 2 offense as well. The implication is that Byrnes, Gaffney, Mauldin, and Boiling Springs only put up big points because the defenses are horrible.

First things first, I am not saying that Sumter beats Mauldin. What I am saying is that when the final score for both teams resembles a basketball score, there is a serious problem defensively with both teams. Indeed there are prolific offenses in region 2, but where is the defense that we are accustomed to seeing?

Teams like Gaffney and Boiling Springs both know that you are not going to go into Sumter and just walk over our defense. Sumter is allowing 20.7 points per game (12.5 points per game in the last 6 games). I'm not saying Sumter will win, but Mauldin will not put up a basketball score. I'm looking forward to a good game.

I was at Boiling Springs last night, two great WR's and Thompson didn't look like a junior for most of last night... couple of sacks that shouldn't have happened, but other than that, he was looking good. He made some throws that me wonder, is that Daniel or Dylan out there?

Was there a Defensive stop in the entire game?
I've watched a lot of High School Football over the years.
I've never seen an 83-70 game. HOLY COW!
I've seen 80-30 type games before but never 83-70!

Were the Defenses just taking chances praying for a turnover.
The number of missed tackles must be mind boggling!

Honest question because I don't get to watch Region 2, does ANYBODY play any defense
or are the offenses just that GOOD!

I would think the key to playing some of these teams would be to slow the pace down and make each possession more pressure packed instead of the fast pace style that these teams are accustomed to?

Far cry from a Seneca vs. Carolina 3A game that I saw years ago that only had 3 possessions in the 1st Half.
Three - 8 minutes drives for TD. Score was 14-7 at the Half.

Fair enough. I've always enjoyed the matchups we've had with Sumter and I look forward to next weekend.

Were the Defenses just taking chances praying for a turnover. NO that was not the issue, the issue is the amount of speed for Mauldin and the lack of talent for Mauldin on the defense. It is as if Mauldin made a conscious decision to put all their athletes on Offensive side of the ball .

or are the offenses just that GOOD!<==== This is my guess. Wide Open style, with speed everywhere. I think the 7 on 7 give the offense the advantage since they are actually playing year round. Think back to the old games in the back yard with you and seven friends... when you spread it out, you only have to beat one man to make a big play!
