Most games tonight were lopsided. Many made long drives to the game with high hopes and aspirations of "this could be OUR night!" only to see those dreams smashed, hence a long ride home.
There had to be 16 teams that lost on the scoreboard tonight. Many teams and many players would have been happy to exchange places just to have even played in the playoffs.
Most seniors ended their football careers last week. More did so tonight. More will do so each week, all the way through the end of the playoffs.
A quote from my favorite football coach, Vince Lombardi:
“Second place is meaningless. You can’t always be first, but you have to believe that you should have been – that you were never beaten – that time just ran out on you.”
So, for those whose season and/or career is over, look in the mirror and if you can say, "I did my best.", then so be it. Keep your head high. Remember the good times. Persevere. Learn from mistakes made. Commit to doing better and being better.
We, the fans, applaud you for your efforts.
Congrats to tonight's losing teams....
