Upset of the week

Post by Realist »

Now I'm not real high on Rock Hill this season, but I think we could not have gotten a better 1st round draw. Hillcrest's schedule does not impress me at all. I'm predicting a Rock Hill upset.

Rock Hill 28
Hillcrest 24

Hillcrest remain an enigma to alot of people due to their schedule.

Their toughest games was against a very average Dorman team and they lost at home. The rest of the schedule is less than glamerous. Still they won 10 out of 11 and that counts for something.

As far as my upset I like........

Ashley Ridge over Summerville (they played close last time)
BS over Gaffney (had their chance last time)
Mauldin scores more than Gaffney
and I think York might be better this year than Greenwood

In the first round, my "upset" picks were:

D1
13 Spartanburg over 4 Spring Valley
10 Mauldin over 7 Sumter
11 Boiling Springs over 6 Gaffney

D2
10 York over 7 Greenwood
11 Blythewood over 6 Beaufort

I did consider 15 Rock Hill over 2 Hillcrest, but I have seen Rock Hill play, and if they win, that would be a big upset in my mind.

I will be the first to admit that I don't keep up with the Columbia or Charleston area teams much, so some of my picks were based on pure conjecture and upstate bias :-)

With the chance of rain it has me worried if the skies stay dry not so much.i think it will really hinge on the weather.

The BIG QUESTION, did you put it on the bracket you submitted???

Better yet, did you submit a bracket? Get over to: http://www.scpreptalk.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=994 and give us your picks all the way to the State Champions.

Congrats to Hillcrest. I caught just a minute of the game right when RH was called for a holding call on the 4th down that they intercepted in the end zone with about 7 min left in the 3rd and the score 20-14 Rams. After the TD was called, after the committee meeting, I wondered in that might break the Bearcat's back....meaning going down 27-14 instead of getting a stop and having the ball down only 20-14.

Did that sequence of plays really turn the game in favor of the Rams?
