What in the world is going on in Florence County?

Post by coachinggrapevine »

SF dominates oceanside with their new transfers.

HP destroys the team that lost to the defending lower state champions by one point. And apparently have more yards of offense and more TD's than the "offensive guru" that is now in Darlington struggled to get after 5 games. Much less 2.

The defending lower state champions in Johnsonville destroy GSF (Seems like GSF is back to their old ways of being terrible) with a brand new staff.

And then there's Lake City

Lake City can't seem to catch a break.

Is Florence county becoming the football battleground?

You answered your own question about SF with the transfers.....Not trying to stir the pot but word around coaching circles is that it will come full circle eventually with a schsl investigation. True or not? who knows but I've now heard it from different coaches at different schools. Might just be sour grapes.

WF is down this year and I think Jenerette will be leaving sooner than later, the cupboard is bare there.

Wilson from what I know is extremely young on both sides of the ball, I also believe they have a new DC this year that Mooney is excited about but I think that will be a project for a couple years if they get the time. Ive seen Mooney work and Im a believer he can win there.

HP has Woodberry back at HC. Hes a heck of a coach and knows those kids, I think they will continue to be good.

Wouldnt put much stock into Jville beating GSF badly. GSF looks absolutely terrible. Hope they can right the ship, a good GSF is great for that part of Horry County.

Cant say much about LC as I dont have much knowledge about their situation but they havent had a winning season since what 2016?

Im not sure if the trends continue but Florence has always been one of those areas that has athletes.

Completely agree with this. I didn't add WF and Wilson because I don't follow those programs. I remember Jody from Aynor. He always struggled there and the prevailing opinion was always "well it's Aynor, they will never be good" Now this new dude has them rolling. So maybe that wasn't accurate. LC always has athletes but it's tough to win there for some reason. I'm glad their DC is getting a shot at heading the ship. I know he's applied to almost every head job he can. Give the man a chance while Baker is recovering.
