Not enough of those schools to have their own league/championship. Given the size of SC, probably never will. NC, GA and FLA have much larger populations.
When they start the one in Spartanburg, I'm sure they will be looking for another area for the next one, maybe near Myrtle Beach or Greenville. I see these schools becoming more of a normal option and parents looking for them instead of public schools and to be totally honest, I do not blame them. Maybe Gray will be twice the size it is not in a few years... or maybe they build another school on the other side of Columbia.

I'm thinking about entering the transfer portal!

Maybe it’s time public schools look at adopting the charter school model…4 hrs instruction 1 hr lunch 2 hrs of extracurricular..I think that was the way Legion operated …not sure about Gray and others…Legion failed though in RH despite the best coaches money could bye..

That is a good point, and I made a similar suggestion to some several years ago. Schools to need to get beyond the 19th model of instruction (can't credit that totally, Sir Ken Robinson made an excellent speech on the subject) and meet parents and the public where they are.

I proposed that early in the day when kids best learn to have the core subjects taught (math, science, English, history) and then after lunch (which should be at least an hour & young kids actually get a recess) they then move to related arts, PE, sports, remediation, tutoring, foreign language, the arts, etc...

The school day would be roughly 8ish-5ish. This would reduce the stress for some parents to deal with after school care. This would also provide some flexibility for the teachers -- some would work the early parts of the day and leave earlier, and some could work the latter portions of the day.
This also would allow schools to actually provide the skills and services that students needs and not simply spend all of the school day on test scores.

The only problem with the forfeits is that teams will still have to play Grey/Oceanside in the playoffs. The only change I would make, haha, is that I wouldn't tell Grey I wasn't going to play them, then they don't have time to find another game. Then they sit home as well.
Exactly what me and a couple friends were saying. If you wanted to lay the wood to them wait until after you played your previous game to tell them. It's way bigger than football. But when you aren't in 2AA or 1A or familiar to what's really going on. It's they aren't that bad just play. Kids at abbeville play mutilple sports because it's just not enough young men to spread around. Gray basketball team is set they can practice tomorrow besides 1 kid...last year only had 2 kids that played football and basketball. The year before that 2021 had 1 kid played both. That's a automatic flag they recruiting for each sport. Abbeville didn't practice basketball last year won the State in football on Friday played basketball the following Tues because the starting 5 were Football players big difference. No one pays attention

Atlantic collegiate open this fall in Conway on hwy 90. All Horry county schools have publicly stated they will not play them in any sport. There are no 2A schools in the county so nobody is forced to play them.
