Former South Florence running back killed in motorcycle accident

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Former South Florence standout Vincent Johnson was killed in a motorcycle accident Friday night. According to WBTV, police said Johnson’s motorcycle collided with a 2004 Cadillac driven by Ronald Eugene Hoey.

Johnson was a three-year starter for the Bruins football team and led the Bruins on the ground with 1,163 yards and 17 touchdowns as a senior in 2010. He also had 51 tackles and four sacks at linebacker. Johnson played at Greenville Tech after high school.
Johnson is survived by his father Vincent Sr., mother Wenda and brother Te’Von. Vincent Johnson Sr. is a longtime coach in the Florence recreation leagues.
