Greenwood plays #1, #2, and #4 in the first four weeks {Add Dorman} so they will either solidify their standing or disappear all together.
I have to be honest, I don't put much faith in polls from folks outside of SC when it comes to SC High School Football as it all comes down to publicity and they are weighted to suit the need (ESPN would put Byrnes and Northwestern at #1 and #2 because they televise the game on Aug 22). The only poll I pay attention to is the one we do on the board. Yes, we have "homers" but the folks that vote on this board usually do a good job. We all have biased opinions ( regional bias, hate a certain team, love our team, etc, and etc) but overall, the TOP TEN here usually looks more accurate than most I see online! Now to breakdown this poll....
It's hard to argue with #1 and #2... loaded and bringing back some key performers.
1. Dutch Fork
2. Northwestern
I don't know that I'd list either of these in the TOP FIVE right now, not that they can't get there, but I don't know that I'd put them there right now. I do feel that Spartanburg could contend for a title if they have some good WR and a solid "D" and the O Line gives the QB the time he needs. Greenwood goes 3-1 in their first 4 games and they are my #2 team, second only to the team they lose to.
3. Greenwood
4. Spartanburg
The rest, at this point, put them {along with five or six other teams} and shake the bag and draw names to fill out the list. I would have Boiling Springs and Dorman on that list somewhere, along with Hillcrest since they bring back a lot of talent from last year's suprising team.
5. South Pointe
6. Myrtle Beach
7. Byrnes
8. Spring Valley
9. South Florence
10. Daniel
I have to agree with Rebel, that list is iffy at best. I wouldnt have DF no 1 due to the personnel loss they had. And depending on how the season shakes down, most if not all the heavy hitters in 4a will be playing in the big 16 playoffs imo. Still way too early to project and im sure coaches are VERY mum on pre season projections.
I love my Indians with all my heart but we are no where near a top 10 team we are looking at starting the season either 0-5 or 1-4 we have a very hard opening to our schedule and we don't have any offense coming back so we will struggle
