Heavy emphasis on "TRY TO"
There are still questions, even at the 5A Committee Level. Keep in mind, the 5A Committee determined this playoff structure!
I set up a sample bracket for all of 5A a couple of replies further down.
For those who are EXCEL people, you can download this by Highlighting and doing the copy and paste or just send me a PM and I will send it if you give me an email address you want it sent.

Thanks for posting R74! Might have to read your post a few times to get a better handle on the new format. Looking at 5A:
1) Upper State has 12 automatic qualifiers(4 teams each from Region I, II and III)
2) Lower State has 13 automatic qualifiers(Regions V, VI, VII and VIII)
3) Region IV has 3 Automatic qualifiers.
Total Automatic qualifiers is 28. 48 teams make the playoffs so that will leave 20 teams which get in based on RPI.
When they are filling in the non-automatic qualifiers, they will look at upper state teams to complete the upper state bracket and then lower state teams for the lower state bracket. Does this mean in the end you could have an upper state team, as an example, with a higher RPI than a lower state team but they do not make the playoffs due to the side of the bracket they fall under? OR is cross bracketing allowed for the non-automatic qualifiers? I could not locate a bracket for 2024 but assume the top 4 teams in each bracket will get a 1st round bye with 12 teams in a bracket.

Just saw your other post which answers the 1st round bye question.

When I tried this, I got one of the LEAP FROG situations in the Division Two Upper State, so the bracket as it worked out purely on RPI is not correct for D2 Upper State. It will have to be tweaked to move Easley up since they were higher in the Region Standings 6th for Easley and #8 for Woodmont, even though Easley has a worse RPI rating. I'm leaving this one here so you can see the LEAP FROG situation. In reality, when it was all said and done, Eastside moves up to #11 and Easley would be #12 and Woodmont would be out.
MAKE SURE THIS SHOWS SHEET TWO SELECTED AT THE BOTTOM SO YOU WILL SEE THE SORTED STANDINGS AND MAXPREPS RPI RATINGS AND SCROLL OVER THAT WAY, ====> TO SEE THE BRACKETS

After reading this "simplified" example, it should be about as clear as the French Broad River after three days of rain.... you Injuns understand what I mean by that.
For you flat country folks, "CLEAR AS MUD" would be the translation.
