Woodruff 62, Emerald 35

Post by Wolverine_Legend »

Wolverines absolutely rolled. It was 41-8 at one point late in the first half. Woodruff defense played outstanding in the first two quarters but I felt like they just let up in the second half with a huge lead. Have to learn to keep it ramped up all game. Still held Emerald to 264 total yards.

The Woodruff offense piled up 513 total yards. Senior QB TJ Morris was 13-17, 278 yards and 5 TD and he rushed for another score. Our 6'6" 230 pound TE had 4 catches for 98 yards and 3 TD and our sophomore RB finished with 19 carries for 123 and a score.

As for Emerald, they are an extremely athletic bunch. And this is simply my opinion, but the Emerald coaches waste their best player in Key Holloway. The kid is flat out electric and he only touched the ball 7 times tonight (6 carries and 1 reception). Dude is a baller and he barely gets the ball in his hands because for some reason they want to start a freshman QB who was 5-11 passing with a pick and only 7 yards rushing.

Woodruff improves to 3-0 and with Oceanside and Pendleton losing will probably move up to #4 in the 3A media poll this coming week. Best of luck to Emerald. Now it's on to a solid Woodmont team for the Wolverines.
And on the eighth day, God created the Woodruff Wolverines

Legend is on point about Holloway, bad coaching. But I can say Emerald is big, physical and plays hard.Good luck to them.
