Brackets are on the SCHSL site. Lower state 3A is a mess, not only does every team make the playoffs, but the Region 5 champion plays their last place team to open the playoffs. Why have a regular season if everybody makes the playoffs?
The only thing I can think of is $$$ and determines seeding.
If Dillon wins their region and Georgetown finishes last, Georgetown could be making the 2 hour ride to Dillon back to back weeks. It makes no sense to match up teams from the same region in the 1st round of the playoff. Heck, just use the system 5A is using and seed teams 1-16 if region doesn't matter.

Drawing names out of a hat makes about as much sense as the mess that is 3A now...

At least 5A Division One has two teams that do not make the playoffs, so not all the coaches can pad their resume with "I MADE THE PLAYOFFS!" This is a direct connection to the "everyone gets a trophy" generation. We teach the kids, you don't have to work hard to get ahead....

I'm thinking about entering the transfer portal!

Use the 5A set up ibn the fact that all #1 seeds get a first round bye. No sense in an 0-10 team going 2.5 hours to get beat by 70.

I thought the 4 teams from each region making the playoffs thing was crap. This is an even bigger chit show. Why not just have every team in a bracket, and as they lose move them to another part of the bracket, let everybody be the state champs. Class AAA division 12 B champs has a nice ring to it.

That's all of society at this point. People want stuff without paying their dues to get it. Education is the worst, that's why I got out of it and coaching. I've had plenty of chances to get back in, but there isn't enough money in the school system for me to ever step back in it.

We should go back to 11 game regular season schedules and 4 playoff weeks like we used to. Everyone is getting 11 games anyway. I’m not a fan of everyone making the playoffs but in 5A the disparity in enrollment makes it necessary for a level playing field. That’s all we ask. The way we used to do it only 32 teams “made” the playoffs. The way we’ve been doing lately is calling week 11 a playoff game so more teams are ‘making’ the playoffs.
