That’s adorable.footballenjoyer16 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 9:51 amMVP is a public charter, free-tuition school. How do you think they're getting these players? It's because the players are choosing to play there. Not through scholarship, or having money thrown at them, or coaches knocking on their doors, it's because the kids saw an opportunity to succeed on the football field and decided to go play together. Every kid in South Carolina had that choice. No one gets upset when a player from Greer transfers to Byrnes, or a player from Blacksburg transfers to Gaffney, but when a player from Blue Ridge or Broome or Dorman transfers to MVP, now it's a problem. MVP did not obtain any of these players any worse than how Spartanburg and the other 5A schools obtain their transfers. Grey Ramsey is a well-known coach in the upstate and brought many more well-known coaches with him, the players coming to play for them was inevitable.
And for education, I know many kids at MVP and they're getting great education. There is a duel-enrollment program set up with Spartanburg Community College to help the kids graduate with their associates degree. They have great teachers and administration just like every other SCHSL school surrounding them. Sounds like a good gig to me.
MVP is definitely school, or the SCHSL wouldn't have sanctioned them. The coaches look out for the players and have the players' best interest in mind. If other coaches in the upstate are so upset at their players leaving their programs, they should look within and see why the players are leaving instead of bashing MVP for doing nothing wrong.

You are regurgitating what you hear by all charter schools. Do you know that the vast majority of traditional public schools offer dual enrollment, they offer AP classes. It is a joke to think that only these charter schools offer this. However they do mainly have online platforms for most of their classes in these "Schools", they are done by noon, only go to school 4 days a week. Which studies have shown and Covid that online learning is not beneficial for the vast majority of students.
They also can set their enrollment numbers and cap them, which no other traditional school is allowed to do. If you come to a traditional school and show you have residency in that zone they have to accept you and enroll you in school, Charter schools do not, they can choose their students based off a "waiting list". Which Gray has already shown they check with athletic coaches to see if a student is a "Good Fit". Traditional high schools are not allowed to do this and must accept any student that walks into their doors. Charter schools do not do this. They are also not held accountable under the same criteria that traditional high schools are to receive their funding based on test scores.
You as well as any charter school faithful are looking at things through rose colored glasses because you are sending your kid there under the guise it is better for them, that is your choice without a doubt. But they are not the same, the high school league allowed their entry into the league because they had no choice after they allowed private schools to move into the league.
So you can holler all you want about they are the same but obviously they are not, until they have to accept every student that walks through their doors and can not cap their enrollment and can not choose which students are allowed to enter their building to learn. Keep defending false narratives it is fine that is also your choice. But also do not be angry when no-one plays them on the sub varsity level, because that is going to happen.

This guy gets it. That’s not even their worst offense though. Is this satire?Noble Savage wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2024 11:33 pmI'm just saying the concept of academy, magnet, prep and what ever word that is used to imply being better... By getting the best players/students... And that's important.... Getting the best players/students by "transfer" or whatever word u wanna use there, scholarship?? ... To me , personally.. shouldn't be a thing.
To me after... My 51 years on planet earth just doesn't seem like it should be an option.
If it's to " save education " or something... That's long gone.
It's my opinion...
I have no problem with them being a school!!! Or the curriculum... It's a great idea.
But when you only take the best for sports and gpa's for branding, show, etc...
To me... IT IS NO LONGER SCHOOL.
but I'm just an old man basing it off of my life and the people I have known and this wonderful city around us all...
In hindsight, I have a sense of foresight...
I do not think it's a good thing in the long run. It's just my opinion. I pray and I mean pray that the kids playing this Friday and the over 500+ Fridays I've witnessed..
I pray they overcome our mistakes
...and take advantage of our wisdom despite our best efforts.
It just seems , idk... Fake...
Like a bad jobber wrestler, like a local Part time weather person, like a bad waffle house cook..like that one person we all know.. and you know you DO know them... that just isn't your guy, your person.. it just doesnt sit right on every fiber of who you are...
It doesn't feel right to me.
It's about people... not just football.
It hasn't been about education in God knows how long.
I hope I'm wrong.
I wouldn't trade my education for one today.
And that's sad.

It is adorable, the entire institution of charter schools is transactional in nature. What athletes has MVP developed? How have they shown they care more than the coaches that had been with those players for 1-4 years? Who has gotten more visibility and received any more offers from colleges once they have gone to MVP? Trying to talk negatively about the coaches that put so much into the programs they run in the upstate is part of the problem people have with charter schools. Most of these kids leave and go to the charter schools because it is easier, they are done with school and football by the time traditional schools get out of school for the day.ThaDirtyO wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 10:08 amThat’s adorable.footballenjoyer16 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 9:51 amMVP is a public charter, free-tuition school. Only thing satirical here are the defenders of the wrong, parading around like what MVP has done should be acceptable. No difference in them or any other professional sports organization “buying a championship.” Won’t be long before we’re watching them on Friday nights on ESPN2 playing the IMG Academies of the world.

How has MVP bought a championship? What have they done that is wrong or any worse than what every other school in SC does to get their transfers? Please show me instead of parading around and saying that MVP is buying a championship lol.ThaDirtyO wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 10:31 amOnly thing satirical here are the defenders of the wrong, parading around like what MVP has done should be acceptable. MVP is the Kevin Durant of SC hs football. Bet you think LeBron is better than Jordan too. Just wish BHP had the NIL program that MVP does to even the playing field.
