You guys all make great points. It is a slap in the face for every hard working assistant coach in this state who has put in the time needed to be a head coach. The new AD at NAFO made a spectacle of the introduction. Cringe for sure. Bentley has been a high school coach for 1 semester and gets a 5A head job. I also heard he is not a certified teacher.
Time will tell but a total PR move for sure.

Good point, but if the Admin wants to move the needle then it is a no risk move. Look at Deon in Colorado, et al... plus you have this trick line to post: https://www.maxpreps.com/news/XEsjuiL8X ... oaches.htmfanofbcmoose wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2025 4:12 pmYou guys all make great points. 3 years from now nobody will be blaming the Admin for losing ball games, the same dumb fans will blame the HC.
There is nothing a HFC can do that will help the principal get his next promotion. The decision makers lose nothing by these hires.
The other coach mentioned that was 'jumped over' was jumped over for many reasons. Nothing against Bentley, you just have to see the lay of the land.

Anymore of a slap in the face than hiring some Old recycled head coach? That has happened several times as well. Not saying its a good or bad hire, but he has played/coached at the D-1 level, and has been around HS FB since birth. Was teaching PE at RH, which means he is either certified or in the process of becoming certified. Think Holloman got the Beaufort job after a year and was never certified, done pretty well in his coaching career.fanofbcmoose wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2025 4:12 pmYou guys all make great points. Don’t blame them for making the hire. They needed to try something out of the box and am sure they are hoping that his dad will be mentoring him along the way. Is NF ever going to be a serious player in 5A? No. But they should be better than they are. At least they tried something, unlike the other high school in Ft Mill who just seem more than satisfied to win one game a year.

You all have made great comments about this this opening. There is a reason Coach Allen left. (Parents, Principal, AD???) Coach Allen did more with less talent than any coach in this state........He is a great Coach and a great man......With that said/ I do wish Coach Bentley the best.....This is a tough Region....

Great Post! Coach Allen has been a friend for over 20 yrs, was never x and o's for him, truly built relationships with the jimmy and joe's and his weren't always as talented as others but they all played hard for him! End of the day that's what hs sports is all about.Chuckster1 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 17, 2025 10:42 pmYou all have made great comments about this this opening. There is a reason Coach Allen left.
