Is anyone else about fed up with the state of High School sports?
It is to the point where we no longer care who transfers and why. I'm almost ready to just pack it up and quit following football. It was bad enough when it was happening and we at least "tried" to make like it was for legitimate reasons; but now, the athletes are on Social Media posting that they are "taking their talents to" and then naming the new school. I think there are 4 or maybe only 3 teams with a legitimate shot at the 5A title game, unless someone pulls a BIG upset along the way.
At least in the NCAA, the transfers seem to be working for and against teams. They may get two or three huge transfers in, but they lose several as well. I'm all for players getting compensation in college (although, four years of education {if they decide to stay}, room and board, does seem like some compensation as well). Rich boosters seem to be at many of the top universities and that NIL money seems to be spread out quite well. Texas Tech has a $1,050,024 NIL deal with their top pitcher on the softball team! Yes, 1 million for the signing, 50 thousand for "per diem" and the 24 is her jersey number so they threw that in for fun. College sports as we knew it just a few years ago is long gone. Soon, there will be 3 major conferences (and possibly only 2) and they will be Division One and the rest will be Division 1A. Teams like Wake Forest, Vanderbilt that are currently in Division 1 may have trouble staying there and get relegated to 1A. Division 1 may be 54 or even down to 48 teams. My question is, will that follow down to High School? Will we have a OPEN DIVISION, as well as the current A, AA, AAA and SCISA?
Before you answer those questions, remember, already in the State Legislature they are discussing doing away with the SCHSL and reorganizing sports into an independent branch of the Department of Education, or possibly, some other body that reports to the SC House of Representatives (among other possibilities).

Re: Transfers & Recruiting
As soon as Notre Dame decides to join a conference, you will see how college will shake out. There is pretty much already in place (TV deals, conference alliances, etc....) for basically a super version of the NFL (AFC/NFC) type set up. The number of total teams that will be on board will depend (probably looking at something like 48-60 (though more like 48 in the long run).
The rest will form some type of league/set of conferences which will basically agree to pay everybody $XXX dollars and drop down to a 'lower' league. There may even be a non NIL type league where the school doesn't facilitate the money it is Justus to the kid to fend for themselves.
Notre Dame is the last straw holding all this up.

College and high school as we knew it is over. At this point it’s not a lot anyone can do about it. The SC 1 time transfer rule will only lead players to transferring out of state to NC or Georgia.
5A D1 has maybe 3 teams that can compete. DF, Summerville, Spartanburg. 5A D2 is a little more open with favorites being Northwestern and Gaffney.

I just think the SCHL just finally threw in the towel on all the transfer stuff to be honest because of all the court cost and to hurt the charter schools!

It’s a joke. And it may kill a lot of interest in the high school game. Gaffney for instance. They always had a Gaffney against the world mindset. The whole community took a lot of pride in that. And now with the amount of transfers they bring in, it isn’t all Gaffney kids anymore. Something is lost there. Mann went down that road for a couple years. Greenville did before that, and now will again. You will be good. And you will win. But not sure how satisfying it is at the end of the day when you don’t do it with the kids that are supposed to be in your building and you mainly recruited an all star team that have zero loyalty.
