Re: Ok...KLugh vs Whiteside....
I seriously doubt we shut him down completely and even if we do, it just opens the door for someone else to be catching passes.
Keep the 3rd downs to managable distances... not 3rd and 54 yards like we had last week.
Keep the penalties to a minimum... we don't need 200+ yards of penalties
Establish a run game, make the "D" cover and respect the run and not drop 7 or 8 into coverage every play.
Remain focused and disciplined, not one UNSPORTSMANLIKE penalty all night.
Stay in your lane and hold your ground on Defense. Read the play but don't get suckered into a pulling guard or motion.
Our QB came out against de la Salle really "excited" and too pumped up. Made several bad throws on the first couple of drives. Tonight, give him some runs, quick slants, and let him get settled in and possibly help to take the crowd out of the game early. A couple of quick first downs and a good start go a long way in a game like this...

I dont look to see whiteside completely shut down. But do expect, he will have to earn every catch. The D need to aggressive and set the tone early. A good hit on hill in the back field would set the stage for "hearing foot steps" the rest of the night. I have heard that Hill like to force the ball to Whiteside some what. If he does...It be a easy pick six. I also look for Byrnes to get a kick off return for a TD or a Returned punt for a TD. Just hope for a good game with NO injuries. Win or lose.

I'm having a blonde moment. What's the difference between a punt return and a returned punt?
I'm concerned about the height advantage Byrnes receivers will have over our secondary.
And yes I would agree that hill forces it to JJ a lot. But dropped passes by the rest of the squad will have that affect. I look for our cavs to play as one tonight. Sure hands all the way around and we'll have a good chance of winning this one. Coaching will be fun to watch. And will play as big a role as the athletes do. Both teams are well oiled.

In the first half, Klugh played on top of Foster as the deep man covering JJ. The gave up the slant a lot and JJ had yards, but they did tackle him well, and gave up no TDS.
In the second half, Klugh played JJ man up, with Talley over the top. This worked much better. JJ had fewer catches and there were some near interceptions. Whiteside, one of the best WR I have seen. Almost unstoppable. But in the 2nd half, Klugh did a nice job slowing him down. Great adjustments by Coach Mags.

Did anyone else see the Umpire blocking for JJ on a slant one time? As soon as JJ came across, the umpire stepped up and blocked our DB and JJ goes for 15 to 20 yards...

I saw that too. Normally the Ref steps back when he sees a pass over the middle..... Not this one.... He step right I front of the Rebel defender. Nice block Ref!Rebel-Fan-74 wrote:Did anyone else see the Umpire blocking for JJ on a slant one time?
