wow.not much to say except hats off to NW..you kicked our Butts..other than getting their and the Indian fans feelings hurt I don’t know what the Tribe can take away from this one..

Congrats..

Are the fans hurt enough to see what happened?
NW was PREPARED.
NW studied film and were coached on how to attack the Gaffney weaknesses.
Some how the Indians have it in their mind when they walk in the field they have won just because they are GAFFNEY.
Their swagger, how they carried themselves last night showed it
***CLARIFICATION***
My comments are not a negative towards these young men donning the Gaffney uniforms!
They are a direct reflection of what they are taught,,, if you're actually paying attention it's more like a reflection of what they're NOT TAUGHT.

I didn’t expect that last night, though I knew the Trojans are a complete team. Found it interesting yet disappointed that Gene picked against us. I hope the rest of the state keeps underestimating the Trojans. Gaffney will be just fine come November. With Rock Hill and then region play, I suspect Southpointe will be our next biggest test.
South Pointe is likely the only game that you SHOULD be tested. {See Byrnes -vs- Chapman for my reason for saying SHOULD}

When the playoffs come I am intrigued by Irmo, SF’s defense, Greenville. Who else should contend? I thoughts Hartsville, maybe they will get back in the mix.
AAAA seems to have a few real favorites, and some more that are interesting and possible party crashers. I like all the ones you mentioned and think that A C Flora is not done yet. South Florence is the odds on favorite for the Lower State side of the bracket, and the Upper State favorite has to be Northwestern or South Pointe winner with Greenville being very battle tested playing a tough schedule, not to be forgotten. I think South Florence's biggest threat for a loss in the Regular Season would be South Florence. {Again, see Chapman -vs- Byrnes for reference}.

As for Irmo, they are scoring a lot of points and not allowing many points; but the only really impressive opponent is Hartsville so I'm not sure about them at this point:
Chapin 48 - 3
Lancaster 56 - 12
River Bluff 42 - 0
Hartsville 35 - 21
.

I'm thinking about entering the transfer portal!

You should roll, as long as you continue to improve each week....

South Florence should have lost to both Carolina Forest and South Pointe. Coaching and #17 Sellers were the difference. That combination is already good enough for an automatic 21 point edge. Teams are going to have to be good enough to beat them by 21 to beat them at all. I've payed close attention to their team the last two seasons and teams just aren't prepared enough. Football is just different in this part of the state and South Florence using that style of ball and making the best of it. I could ramble on about this. They very well could win it all, but I don't think they will have easy at all this year and have some definite vulnerabilities. Northwestern is probably good enough to beat them by 21. Coaches at South Pointe have to do better.

I’m really shocked but I guess I shouldn’t be! Northwestern is probably the best team in the state any classification. In 5A the lower state teams has a very legitimate shot this year to steal the trophy from the upstate.
I'm not sure why people are underestimating NW. After watching them play in the championship game, and looking at what they return, they were my preseason pick to win 4A.

People shouldn't consider their 42-35 loss in week 0 a negative. MaxPreps has Providence Day ranked #2 in NC, #38 in the nation.

Northwestern had many chances in that Providence Day game with many trips to the red zone coming up empty. That was the difference in that game. Providence Day had a lot of good athletes especially Jordan Shipp. Strangely they had quite a few two way players as well.

Maxpreps is an interesting source of info. Always wonder where it originates. PD is ranked 38 nationally and shows #2 in NC. Rabun Gap is in GA and does show #1 ahead of PD in NC independent schools, but not ranked nationally. They play each other later in the year, PD will win by 30+.
