We are fortunate to have power (no internet), but most of my family still does not have power.
Glad to host them this time around. They came through for me when my home was without power for over a week from the ice storm several years ago.

I will try to get everything caught up on the website ASAP.

Hope everyone is safe.
It's a web site .gotta take care of the real life 1st.

65 Hours out, but we just got our power and internet back. Hope everyone is OK.
Hang in there, Peng. Storm Thursday before the hurricane hit knocked out power, well pump and got the South Saluda River to flood stage then another 20 inches of rain and hurricane force wind. Any idea of getting a place at the beach is out now. A week in a rental at Edisto is good enough lol. Been years since I’ve been this happy to get a cup of instant Nescafé ha. Generator keeps my freezer going and cooking on a camp stove. Four days with no electricity or running water- not sure when Blue Ridge Co-op will get me back up. The good life in the mountains.
Keep Western NC in your thoughts. Even worse up there.

After all those years in and around Florida, I finally experienced the "EYE" here in Spartanburg. Friday morning, my entire back yard and neighbors on both sides of me had trees leaning so far to the left that a couple of them pulled up some of their roots. Then for about 3 or 4 minutes it was totally still. Then everything was leaning to the right.

A few trees in our little community were taken down by the wind, one house still has a tree laying on it, but we sit down in a valley so we were in a little bit of a protected area. However, just down the street, there are still places where two lane roads only have room for one car and power lines are just a few feet above you as you pass. Still places where you cannot access due to lines and trees on the ground and as mentioned before, loads of folks with no power.... my mom is still without power.

Yesterday, my small group at church was scheduled to work at a local food bank and we still went and without power, we cooked the meal and fed about 225 - 250 people and while many were "regulars" we had some who told of what they had been through in the past couple of days and were just wanting a meal that wasn't a peanut butter sandwich.

We got power back about an hour and a half ago and we lost it about 7:00am Friday morning.

No power, did see my first Duke Power guy today to look at the downed lines... He said 5 days if I'm lucky, lost 300 dollars worth of food indoor temp today reached 97... Tomorrow I shall hunt for a downtrodden hotel with power and an open eatery close. Ice melts faster than I can buy it.

I did tip an Uber Eats girl who delivered my food this afternoon by bicycle 20 bucks. Pay it forward, admire the effort.

Hope everyone is safe.

My son lives in Greer . He took off to
Myrtle Beach Saturday . Everything is
fine down there . No crowds and no
problems . Lady told him all they got
was a little rain and wind. When he got
below Columbia he had no problem
getting gas. He is staying at the
Crown Reef 150.00 a night.

Everybody stay safe out there. It's still bad, but we are getting there in Newberry. MOST people in the city have power, I'm not one of them. I can't find gas for my car as every station is out of high octane and I can't put anything else in my car.

I have power now.
I was able to get gas in the car with a little difficulty (some who thought they were too important to sit in line like us commoners)
I got a few items at FOOD LION this morning that should help get us through to at least the weekend.

Daughter has power.
Son doesn't have power.
Mama doesn't have power so I'm keeping in touch with them multiple times a day. Just got her two bags of ice that she will put in her "fridge" which is two large Artic Ice Chests. She has a grill and they are using it on the back deck and she ate at my daughter's house last night and may be with us tonight.

Compared to Asheville, Hendersonville areas of NC, I'm GOLDEN! Chimney Rock community is gone! Nothing left at all, buildings down to the foundations, are washed away! The Swannanoa River destroyed the Biltmore Village (right outside the entrance to the Biltmore House) and surrounding buildings like the Tobacco Barn Antiques.
