C.A. Johnson brought 8 people total...2 was with the team. It definitely should be back to 4 if possible and a Bye. Wasn't any money made in abbeville as it has been for the last 5yrs. Terrible region games now 1st rd in the books.
I haven't even been to Abb last 6 games and I once didn't miss a game for almost 20 years, recently. These games are so bad, just unwatchable. We did some of this to ourselves by appealing for this 1A classification. Very bad move IMO. The 2A region we were in was not good, but, is far better then the 1A Region we are now in, it's terrible. I'll probably start back this week with Blackville-Hilda, they at least have a decent 1A team. I agree wirh going to 4 rounds in playoffs. Also would like to see some adjustments to the classifications, maybe adding a couple more classes, split classes or whatever..
Yeah but Abbeville didn't make any money in the last 2 alignments in 2A so that was 4yrs of that either wasn't many people driving from Landrum to Abbeville. We played Columbia last year it was the same crowd as last night they just had a band last year. With Football being the Cash Cow for the Athletic program. Abbeville has been stuck with terrible region play for 3 alignments. Yeah the drop to 1A hurts but this is what we have ahead. The Student population after this Senior class goes down some more. We aren't just growing check out JV game or Wright. Then Rec league teams only fielding 1 team each age group. That's why we can bring everyone up from JV and still don't have 60 players. I've Always supported Abbeville Sports my entire life. From winning state championship in 1996. I can tell you one thing We are the biggest, spoiled, and quietest crowd in the state of South Carolina. It was so quiet in the stadium last night you could hear the Refs say the penalty. Just look how other communities don't support their school. It will make anyone appreciate Little 1A Abbeville so much more. Always support the kids I have Nephews and Cousins that play so glad to watch them regardless of who they are playing
Oh I support the athletic program, my tickets were bought and paid for, but, there is no way I am going to watch a fiasco of a game against Calhoun Falls, Whitmire, Ware Shoals, etc. And we did that to ourselves with the appeal down to 1A. Games against Chesnee, Landrum, 96 in region are much better than what we have seen this year, and, 2A playoffs are a totally different beast than 1A. As far as crowd last night, well it was 28-0 in 1st quarter, a total snoozfest, can't blame the crowd, IMO. Give us a big game vs Saluda, B-L, Clinton, the crowd will show up. We could have had that, but, certain school officials decided they knew better and killed that opportunity. First round is always a weak team, regardless, but, I will blame the appeal to 1A for a lot of apathy this year, including myself. I put some of the blame where it belongs, on that.

Way back when... we would schedule a Non-Region game in the final week of the season, and if we made the playoffs, that game would be cancelled and if they didn't make the playoffs, they could match up with another team that also didn't make the playoffs.

They could do something like that now if they playoffs were "trimmed" and they could even have "bowl games" for teams that didn't qualify.

They aren’t going to trim the playoffs. In today’s society where everybody gets a trophy it won’t change. And many coaches don’t want it to change. Mindless administrators are impressed by being a playoff team even though the team might only have won 1/2 games. Saves a job every now and then

And that is the dumbest mindset. “We were a playoff team!” Yeah, you won 1 or no days 0 region games, made a nearly 4 hour bus ride, lost by 48 to a team that could’ve scored 80, you got 20 yards of offense, then got back on a bus and rode 4 hours back. A lot to celebrate there.

If these coaches are so concerned with making the playoffs, GET BETTER! Stop trying to do the same thing every other team does and be different. You don’t have spread talent, try something else. Sure it’s awesome to talk about your spread offense, but averaging 14 points a game on offense and giving up nearly 40 is nothing to talk up. I wish 1 of these programs that struggle would run the old Single Wing just one year. I mean the real Single Wing. I would drive to watch them play.

Making the playoffs looks good on your resume for administrators that don't really pay much attention to the athletic landscape.

Yes my tickets are paid for as well. Let's be honest last year we didn't have a playoff game that had a bigger crowd than some of our regular season games. I like Honesty we have been screwed for 5yrs on the gate. Abbeville never should have gotten moved out of the old region. But as far as the numbers go we are gonna be a 1A school for awhile. When I say for awhile no classes are the size of our senior class for the next 8yrs. Not good at all. I can also say if Abbeville wins a State Championship without a close game. I wouldn't care they played who they was to play. No charter/Private pick em team. But we are here now so Let's Go Panthers.

My beef is that we were supposed to play in AA this year and next. the league had us there, we appealed to move down to A. When the time comes that we have no choice, I'm ok with that. We had a choice and chose to appeal and won on the 2nd appeal. We could have just let it take it's course. It's just not the same in 1A, way to many just plain awful football teams around here. I would have liked to have seen another couple years in AA. Looks like the good ole days are gone. Interest and attendance will decline. For me to actually decide to pass on going to a number of games this year, tells me that interest in general will decline. I am not a casual fan.

You guys need to lighten up. A South Carolina high school football game is still the best entertainment and chance to socialize and be part of a community- for $10 or less. A couple of hotdogs and a coke. Hot chocolate when it gets cooler. Come on! It’s a good time… enjoy it.

Yeah quite a few live in Abbeville/Cfalls area they despise Cfalls and Abbeville for different reasons. 2A playoffs would get better in the 3rd rd...because last year 1st 2rds attendance was awful. If we would have been in that region again. Attendance would have been terrible again. Dixie will be losing big this year and next as far as seniors their largest classes. We will be ok because we seek competition.
