Our receiver waited way too late to signal the fair catch. I believe one reason he dropped it was because he was using one arm to catch it and the other to signal the fair catch. But still, he got the signal off and they DID hit him.

Yea the announcers didn't like it at all cause he called the fair catch so late I hate I missed it but work and family time was what needed to happen last night lol man I tell you the state title games this year might be some of the best in a long time

Congrats to the Cavs on winning and advancing now bring the last D1 4A state title home to the upstate where it belongs

Can't wait to see who wins it the new Class 5A title next year man that will be hard to get use to

The fair catch signal and whether it was late or not was totally irrelevant.
Byrnes did not give the receiver the opportunity to make a catch, fair or not.
The receiver has to be allowed to make a catch and contact can not be made prior.
Byrnes made contact with him prior to the catch and call was very easy to make.

Not disagreeing with the call at all. It was the right one. He probably would have gotten hit either way. I'm just saying it made me nervous seeing all those Rebels barreling down on him and wondering if he's gonna signal it or not. Worked out for us though.

That and he stepped forward into the path of the Byrnes player...

That is why it took so long to make the call and walk off the yards. It was very dangerous!

I have supported coach lane from day one but last night was embarrassing! People yelled there displeasure all game long! I don't know where we go from here I know coach lane is a good coach but last night was the first time I thought he may be over his head! There was no control over our team! The play calling was awful I thought we gave that game away! Taking nothing away from dorman they were the more disciplined team and they were the better coached team! Hats off to gutshal and team good luck next week I will be rooting for dorman!

Just speaking the truth. However, we have more coming back than Spartan High, that's for sure.
