And they have the added benefit of Phil Strickland on their sideline. I didnt see it coming this week, probably next. But Chester hadnt been as dominant all year as they seemed to be last year, despite their high ranking. Know their QB missed some time being hurt, but assume he played last night.
He played last night. The Newberry defense played their best game since the 2017 season last night. The stats I heard had Chester with 53 carries for 72 yards. I don't remember how many sacks Newberry had, Kentrell Caldwell and Rae Wilmore were in the Chester backfield all night. KJ Gary and Josh Stewart got back there a few times as well.

Newberry is built more to beat a team like Chester than Chapman. Although if they can avoid that opening punch that Chapman likes to give they could make it interesting. Newberry is so big up front, and with such big backs, that is the type of offense that could give Chapman issues. And Strickland will slow the game way down. Still think Chapman has too much in the passing game for Newberry to stop. But it is the playoffs. We will see.

That is going to be the thing, can Newberry slow the game down and keep the Chapman offense on the sideline? It's going to take that to even have a chance. It also depends on which Newberry team decides to show up. The one that played great defense last night, or the one that allowed emerald over 300 yards on the ground.
