I'll be there but on the opposite side of the field. Carry my daughter and a few of her friends...they're 15. My head hurts already.

Lets try a meet and greet at the game maybe before or during halftime if we can get it arranged I don't think I could make a pregame meal due to the fact that ill have both boys and the wife and we will probably be running behind if you know what I mean

Re: DORMAN VS. GAFFNEY! For the golden ticket!
Here’s a Gaffney-Dorman playoff memory: 1987, tenth grade for me. Dorman had defeated Gaffney 30-20 in what was in those days a huge upset and a very rare Cavalier win in the series. The two teams met in the first round of the playoffs at the old John L. Martin stadium (what is now Wal-Mart). I ended up going to this one alone, dropped off by my mom. I was going to go with my friend Harold but for some long forgotten reason he had to cancel at the last minute. The game was a close defensive struggle. Dorman outgained Gaffney but the Indians made huge defensive plays when it counted, stopping the Cavs on several 4th doens and forcing a couple of fumbles. In the end the score after the first quarter was the final score: 12-7 Gaffney. So many missed opportunities for the Cavs. On my way back to my car I was holding back tears. I then came upon a small group of Indian stufents and they started yelling at me- “hey faggot. Dorman SUUUUUCKS! I then ran to my mom’s car bawling loudly. I told her “they making fun of me”. She then slapped my head and said “grow up boy...life ain’t always the way you want it!” Today just happens to be my mom’s 76th birthday. Happy birthday, mom. And thanks for not letting me become a total wuss as a grown-up!

You know the routine. Take your time and travel safe. You'll have a seat when you arrive. I have your number.GwoodEagle2k1 wrote:I'll definitely be at this one

And Richard is planning on coming with his dad again. Trojangrad78 is supposed to be there as well as Wavefan 70's. I'd be surprised if some Rebels didn't sit with us.
B1, text Kay Hughes and see if she want's to sit with us. Based on Newcat's reaction in the phone text thread...she might be more of a draw than a tailgate, game, or just about anything else.

Year: 2009
Ten years ago I was a Junior at Dorman High and I remember that year vividly as it was the year Dorman won the State Championship, but before they got there, they had to derail Gaffney! Now by this point we had already given Gaffney a nice fat loss at the beginning of that season by a score of 42-17, keep in mind it was the second game of the season for Dorman (as we played a week zero against our City Rivals Spartanburg) and the first of the season for Gaffney. This time around the morale was a little bit different as Deeward Burris and Joe Craig had given that Gaffney team a much needed facelift since their first game... Gaffney came into the game with a 10-3 record, ready to avenge their first loss of the season. That game was a close one, at the start of game both defenses shined bright as neither offense could get the upper hand! It was a pretty evenly matched first half and both teams went back into their respective locker rooms with the score of the game knotted up at 0. As the second half started Dorman came out firing on all cylinders as Johnny Foster and Charone Peake of the high powered Dorman offense came out firing on all Cylinders, driving down the field and killing the time of possession while at it! Even that couldn’t put the Gaffney defense away as Dorman had to resort to trickery to put the first set of points on the board, Casey Cohen running the Philly Special tossing a 10 yard touchdown pass to Johnny Foster for 6 (and of course the PAT was good). The score is 7-0 at this point, it’s the 4th Quarter. Dorman’s defense led by Kendrick Smith & Ryan Pruitt has to step up and make the biggest defensive plays of their career at this point. They did just that as Deedward Burris took off down the field on a quarterback keeper for 50 yards with 6 minutes to go! The ball is now on Dorman’s 20 and they have a fresh set of downs as Adam Humphries has made a touchdown saving tackle. Dorman’s defense did their job as John Parker made a stop. Dorman has gotten the ball back as it was a turnover on downs. To put the icing on the cake Dorman drives down the field and kicks a field goal to ice the game 10-0. Dorman wins and goes on to win the State Championship against Byrnes by the score of 28-17. Just thought I’d bring that up because we’re in the same situation 10 years later with both teams having similar win loss records.
Hmmm...I wonder if 2010 isn't a better analogy. We came in undefeated having knocked off the rebs in the regular season.

Halftime is probably not going to be doable. The U security doesn't usually allow fraternizing between fans once you're in the gate. Last time I tried to visit the visitors section I got turned away by the Po-Po.racincowboy02 wrote:Lets try a meet and greet at the game maybe before or during halftime if we can get it arranged I don't think I could make a pregame meal due to the fact that ill have both boys and the wife and we will probably be running behind if you know what I mean
There's some restaraunts right there at the exit. Some fast food joints and also an Italian restaurant. Also UP the road where 215 and 221 intersect are some more food options. Keep in mind....we can eat after the game and not be pressured with kickoff. I stopped by Trojangrad's house last week after the Clover game and we hung out in his den talking till the A.M. while Sherri sat in the recliner falling asleep. Who would blame her?

Haha. Great story! Yeah, you did sure grow up not to be that kid. Nuclear refers to much more than just what you do for a living. Penguin...I don't know if you recall BigBadCavDude on PFT years ago who would do a weekly pregame analyisis of the upcoming games, but that's who Nuclear is.NuclearCav90 wrote:Here’s a Gaffney-Dorman playoff memory: 1987, tenth grade for me. BTW, when you going to start posting those again? Too late for this season but you should start that back up next season. It was seriously popular when you were doing that and I remember Penguin commonly complimenting your thoughts (if people can be believe that...I kid.)
