We will have to wait and see. Know absolutely nothing about Cane Bay. Seems like they run the ball 80% of the time and don't pass much at all. To give TK something to think about, you need to be balanced. It seems that teams that hang their hat on one or the other, he figures them out pretty quick. Cane Bay has a good record, so we will have to see what happens.

I hope Chapin and Lexington have good outings next Friday.

Fear The Fox...Fixed On Six...for Jack #60 and Gage #4.
You will beat Cane Bay by 40+!! Look at the caliber of their opponents!!

Yes this is not the typical Sumter team and I don't know why we always end up in this region anyway. It is not a challenge for us. Every game is a 2 hour ride and with a less talented team this year we still beat everybody twice and won the region. Our defense is good and makes plays. Our offense is does not score much points and has to many penalties per game. We do not have a passing game. We will only go as far as our defense takes us.

It used to be a challenging region for Sumter when Conway had good football teams. It was a great rivalry up until about 4-5 years ago. Conway has the athletes to compete with Sumter, but until there is a coaching change, Conway won’t be challenging anybody with a winning record. Sumter also has a lot more students than Conway, so there is an immediate advantage. Conway should be a 4A team.

Let’s get some facts straight:

Those who believe Sumter is not a force probably have not followed Sumter football lately. Look at the opponents Sumter has lost to the past 5 years. I’m not necessarily a polls guy either, but I believe we’ve ended the regular season in the top 10 every year Mark Barnes has been our coach.

Lower state final appearance last year playing the same region opponents. Did a heck of a job defending Dutch Fork. Unfortunately, they did a better job defending us.

As far as non-region, we play the teams that are in front of us and that are willing to play us. We can’t help the region we are in.

I couldn’t begin to tell you how many former players are playing on Saturdays. A couple are now playing on Sundays.

Now, the reason we are not a force this year is that we are not a very disciplined team. We would look much more dominant if it wasn’t for penalties. Our offense is much different than recent years. In fact it had to have been in the early 90s when Sumter ran as much option as they do now. Our defense is still very solid. At least top 3 in the state, and that is without our best DE who is going to NC State in the spring.

I like our chances against Stratford, but we can be beat if we don’t beat ourselves.
