This might be a good game between to .500 +/- head coaches who have had minimal success in there careers. Check their records and you will understand my comments. Can’t believe that NA hired this guy with his record, and obviously Liner’s record is no better. Team with the least number of turnovers wins this game because it won’t be based on talent.
I don't know the situation at North Augusta so i can't comment on it. As far as Liner at Greenwood, He's already won region in only his 2nd year. Can't take that away from him. Won 2 region titles at Laurens I believe and it's hard to win at Laurens. No disrespect to Laurens. No state title for Liner yet. Gene Cathcart didn't win any state titles as a head coach before he came to Greenwood and took us to 3 state championships in a row. He ended up winning the 3rd time. So it can be done and has been done at Greenwood. Regardless of how this season turns out, GREENWOOD PEOPLE ARE FOR COACH CHRIS LINER. We love him, he's one of us and he knows our culture, kids, and what we need to get our football program back up to standard. But hey....... Everyone has an opinion. Appreciate you sharing yours but as far as I'm concerned it's just outside noise. Have a good weekend sir!
I guess time will tell. I would like to see us become more balanced. Doesn't have to be 50/50, but we need at least a little passing game to compete in this classification. Can't be too predictable.

Only comparables at this point is how well both teams fared against Dorman. NA at home gets it done. Sorry eagle fans I don’t think this year is the one.

You really can't go by that. Greenwood turned the ball over a bunch in that Dorman game. 3 of those resulted in touchdowns.

I can go by that. Turnovers are part of the game and if your doing a lot of it then that says a lot about your team.
That bolsters the argument.

I can't speak for 93 obviously but i think he was just saying styles make fights. Just because North Augusta gave Dorman a better game doesn't mean they'll beat us.North Augusta might have matched up better against Dorman than we did. Greenwood might match up better against North Augusta. I guess we'll all find out tonight. But I completely agree with you on the turnovers. Turnovers will get you beat no matter who the opponent.

I'd agree with that. Cathcart was primarily run but did have a passing game. I'm no armchair QB but I'd like to see Liner implement the slant route. Cathcart did it all the time when teams stack the box. The slant would be wide open. Of course, you have to do all the other stuff well and hold on to the ball for that to work. We haven't shown we can do that yet consistently. I would guess that's the reason. But again, I'm not a coach so I don't know why. Just my 2 cents.

Well it appears that it was a good game. 21-14 final where NA almost scored from the one. Made zero sense to run a dive play out of the shotgun. Should have gone under center but what do I know. Still almost won but ran out of time and no way to stop the clock from the 15 yard line. I would say prognosis was pretty correct. Going to watch Fort D play tomorrow night.

Just so people know what actually happened....
Gwood went up 7 nothing.... NA tied it up at 7..... Gwood went up 14-7.... NA tied it up at 14.... Gwood went up 21-14..... NA had a 4th& goal inside the gwood 1 yard line, gave it to their best running back and he got stuffed at the 1.... Gwood takes over at their own 1 with about 4 min left.... Drives the ball about 80 yards by getting 1st downs. Made NA burn there last 2 time-outs and then took a knee to end the game. So North Augusta didn't "almost win". They almost tied.

Very good game. Happy to get a win. Backup fullback for gwood rushed for 200 something yards.... Will have to get an official stat on that.
