Daniel is the best in 3a statistically on defense.Penguin wrote: ↑Thu Nov 03, 2022 11:25 amOK, back to this game. Orangeburg-Wilkinson always has a lot of really good athletes. In order for Beaufort to have success in this game, we will have to whip them in an eleven against eleven football game and not try to match them, or beat them in a game of one against one. We will have to "out football" them, not "out athlete" them.
This is the type of game that typically creates problems for Beaufort as we have some really good athletes ourselves, and we get caught up in the "which one of us is better" game, and lose sight of the bigger picture. The kind of mentality that the Eagles bring will go a long way in deciding how this game plays out. Typically, in order to have long term success in the playoffs, a team has to win at least one game where they are severely tested. This game has all of the earmarks to be that game for us this postseason.
After the South Pointe debacle in the Championship Game last season, I am sure that our coaching staff is well aware of these very things, and will have the Eagles ready to play as a team. Beaufort is far too good to allow this one to go south. Maybe a little early adversity, but in the long run, our overall attention to detail will prevail. The emergence of Samari Bonds, at QB, as a legitimate threat both running and throwing the ball, has made an already formidable offense, even more dangerous. And the Eagles Defense, statistically the best in 3A this year, has been especially nasty towards the end of the season. With a very good Kicking game, and with maybe the best return man in the State, Beaufort has one of the most complete teams that I can ever remember.
I do think that Mr. Doodles may have this one a bit on the high side of reality. At least the Bruins will only have an hour and a half ride home afterwards. This game will help us get our heads right for the minefield ahead.
The Penguin Says:
Beaufort-38
OBW-14
Also the best on offense.
