Finishing Second in your region does not guarantee a home playoff game. Irmo was the weakest two so they ended up getting the short end of the stick.

What's Summerville's points total versus Hillcrest's points total?

No sir. Home games go to the top 8 seeds in each Division. Finishing second only allowed Irmo to be seeded ahead of all of the third place and at-large teams that made the top 16. Since there are only 8 Regions, winning your Region would guarantee a home playoff game, but not finishing second.

When you look at the brackets closely, you will see more overall strength in the DII brackets. Doesn't happen that way every year.

I don't have the exact numbers in front of me, but I do know that Summerville lost a much needed extra half point when Berkeley was beaten by Myrtle Beach tonight.

I don't think any opponent wins tie-breakers were that close. Will Double Check.
Closest one was Rock Hill- Easley -Laurens -WF (32.5pts).

Rock Hill - 51 opp. wins
Laurens- 48 opp. wins
West Florence- 38 opp. wins

I hope an out-of-state opponent point value doesn't bite us again!

Yeah because of the way we do it, it's technically possible for all of the 2nd place region teams to have to travel( that would require all the 1's and 2's to be in the same bracket.). Most years there's one unlucky 2 that has to travel to another 2.

I think I did pretty good on this bracket projection!

It helps to go 25-1 picking 4A games (straight up) this week.
I missed the Mauldin-Boiling Springs game.
Shuffled my D1 bracket a bit.
Rebel-Fan-74 warned about how good Mauldin was, should have listened.
(I thought I was picking the better defense and they give up 83!)

That is because 9 of the 1 and 2s are in the D2 bracket this year.
7 of the 1 and 2s are in the D1 bracket this year.

Some interesting matchups in the 1st round if this holds true. Fort D at Dutch Fork for starters. Depending on which Fort D team shows up, Dutch Fork could have their hands full. Summerville gets a rematch with Ashley Ridge that we just played last week and squeaked out a 6 point win(39-33) in the pouring rain. I hate rematches....Gaffney and Boiling Springs playing again in the 1st round after their defenseless game(59-54 Gaffney) with the winner coming to Summerville hopefully. Could it be another Gaffney and Summerville matchup in the playoffs???
