So last Saturday night the half and half winner took home 80K that was more than the race winner won. Eldora is known for big half and half purses and it is crazy the money they can pull in. I sure would love to see a high school football game do a half and half ticket just to see what the winner could get cause there are a lot of people in the stands.

Okay, that's just nuts. How many people were in the half-and-half to take in that much money?

I don't really know to be honest but you can get a ticket for a buck or 6 for 5 10 for 20 so there ain't no telling how many people were in it. I know that there was a record crowd there this past weekend. I believe I heard that the record was up in the 20K plus

Ok Thursday, Friday and Saturday night this week the late model boys will invade sprint car hallowed ground and run on the black clay that is known as Knoxville Speedway in Knoxville Iowa. I know that some of you are like wait a minute the only Knoxville there is is the one that has that ugly orange and white team that sucks so bad they wish they were back in their glory days of being good lol. Knoxville Iowa is home to the sprint car museum and that place is hallowed grounds for anything sprint car racing. The late models started going to Knoxville in 2004 and the racing has been wild and the best race of the year for most of the time they have been going to Knoxville. The 1st 2 days will feature a 7K to win feature for both nights and the finale will be a 40K to win race. The past winners are as follows

2004 - Brian Birkhofer
2005 - Scott Bloomquist
2006 - Brian Shirley
2007 - Brady Smith
2008 - Tim McCreadie
2009 - Scott Bloomquist
2010 - Billy Moyer
2011 - Don O'Neal
2012 - Steve Francis
2013 - Darrell Lanigan
2014 - Brian Birkhofer
2015 - Jared Landers
2016 - Mike Marlar
2017 - Mike Marlar
2018 - Jimmy Owens

So as you can see the big names have been and will be there again this weekend. Can the Newport Nightmare Jimmy Owens repeat as winner as Mike Marlar did or will Brian Birkhofer come out of his retirement and make him a 3 time winner of the event. Can Scott Bloomquist get back to victory lane and make himself a 3 time winner. Bloomquist has been struggling since getting back in the car and just doesn't look like the Bloomquist of old as he is still recovering from the motorcycle accident injuries and some have even speculated that he returned to the car way to early and if I am being honest maybe that is the case as at the World 100 he looked like an old man getting out of the car after those 100 laps.

Shane Clanton wins night 1 of the Late Model Nationals and takes home the 7K to win paycheck. Clanton started 7th and came to the front in a hurry and once he got the lead he took off and dominated the rest of the race

KOKOMO, Ind. (September 20, 2019) – Tyler Erb won the biggest late model race in the 72-year history of the Kokomo Speedway on Friday night in front of a packed house.
