Depending on the hire here's what will happen
Chris Liner: We'll be good enough to win some region titles. We'll beat who we're supposed to beat most of the time. Whenever we have a really talented group come through we might be able to compete for a 4A title. Whenever we play Gaffney, Byrnes, Dorman, or any other 5A powerhouse or any 4A team that can be compared, we'll get drilled no matter the talent we have. Liners schemes are too vanilla to beat any of those teams as we saw with Laurens vs Byrnes.
Greg Porter : Sky is the limit.
Unfortunately seems like the buddy favors and politics have begun

Porter is 4-1 against Liner as someone else posted. I'm not surprised that Sparky wants Liner if what you're saying is true. We'd still be alright under Liner. Just seems really dumb to not pick the best coach. Porter with a State Title and winning the head to head against Liner. Would be asinine to not pick Porter over Liner. Can't pick someone just because you're friends with um.

Yep. Politics won out as I thought it would. I hope we aren't going to be what Laurens was. Let's see.

Re: Greenwood
The region title will come down to Greenville or Greenwood. Time will tell if Liner was the right selection for the job.
I still believe Porter was the better coach in the interviewing process. I guess will see very soon.

Re: Greenwood
Sorry, nothing against Liner but this is dumber than the Pippin hire. Why would you hire a guy that hasn't won a title and has a losing record against another coach in the region who wanted the same job? Why would you do that? Why? Starting to think D50 just doesn't like black leaders. What's Porters background? Bet he can relate to these kids way more than Liner. Unbelievable.
Re: Greenwood
Well I hope you like disappointment because that's exactly what we'll be. Just like Laurens. We'll beat teams that are worse and lose to anyone with comparable athletes. Would Laurens have made to 4A state last year? Answer HELL NO. They would have lost to Daniel, Greenville, Wren, and definitely would have lost to MB.eagle93 wrote:Yep. Liner's biggest challenge will be getting the talent off the streets. He's a Greenwood guy and should know where to tap into that wasted potential.ManigoEra wrote:Sorry, nothing against Liner but this is dumber than the Pippin hire. I know Sparky was trying to get that young guy that used to be at Emerald to come back for this kind of stuff but he stayed out of state (for now).
Kevin Addis will be a big asset for Liner.
