No, not even close. 96 was never a real contender while he was there.ManigoEra wrote:96fanatic wrote:Congrats to Chris.GO GET'EM EAGLES!
Of all the coaches available we hire the one that's the least accomplished. For the life of me I just don't get it. Only reason he got hired in my opinion is because he's friends with the AD. Wasn't he a head coach at 96? Did he win any titles there?

Re: Greenwood
You can't be serious. He never beat but 2 or 3 teams with winning records the entire time he was there. He got drug in the playoffs when he made it there. When he left the program was a political disaster and then Doolittle came back and got killed trying to get the program back up and running. Liner worked directly for the booster club, he did as they told him to. Greenwood will regret this hire.96fanatic wrote:yes he coached for 6 years at 96, 43-26 record.ManigoEra wrote:96fanatic wrote:Congrats to Chris.GO GET'EM EAGLES!

he had the program in great shape when he left.
I wish he had stayed at 96.

football middle school through high school.that is
the most 96 ever had.they went 8-3 without
many seniors on the team.they beat chesterfield
in the playoffs and lost to an excellent Chesnee team.
like i said he had the program in great shape.when Doolittle
came in 2014 he inherited a senior team and got
beat in the upper state championship game.the Kids did
not come out for Doolittle and the program went down.
he did away with the middle school team.Liners team beat
Abbeville in 2012 and 2013.they beat Newberry 2 times while he was
there.they also beat Lincoln County GA. with Coach Campbell and
Doolittle was the offensive cord.for L.C. they also beat Woodruff.
I don't know how he will do at Greenwood but i do wish him
the best.
Re: Greenwood
Won’t be surprised if Porter ends up in North Augusta. He was a target of the booster club the last time they hired a coach.

Re: Greenwood
Maybe Porter is happy where he's at. I can't blame him for doing a few interviews a year just to set the tone with his current employer.

Re: Greenwood
He is staying put. He was pretty frustrated with this. Drove 8 hours back from DC early after a family emergency to make this interview. They had their minds made up anyways. Should've never asked him to apply. He isn't interested in North Augusta. Greenville is just as good as that job. Circle your calendars for this game.Damefan wrote:Won’t be surprised if Porter ends up in North Augusta. He was a target of the booster club the last time they hired a coach.

other than in jamborees since coach Dula was there.
but if they have the athletes that fans are
saying on this site.Let me be the first to predict that
Greenwood will beat Greenville .
Re: Greenwood
Nope. It's not just about athletes. If that were the case the right coach wouldn't matter. Greenville has athletes too. They've had quite a few QBs go to D1 colleges. Just sent one to Pitt. Porter is very creative too. That matters. They won their region his first season there and got put out of the playoffs by eventual state champion Wren. This was after he overhauled the whole offensive scheme with a brand new qb. To do that so quick is pretty good.96fanatic wrote:I have not watched the Eagles play a gameeagle93 wrote:He is staying put. He was pretty frustrated with this. I'm taking a wait and see approach. Have to get strong assistant coaches and I believe they will.
