DEPUTY......."As far as McManus got a feeling he got stabbed in the back at SP. The coach leaving SP for Legion was one of the worst kept secrets in SC. Didn't make any sense for him to accept the Union job, then turn it down the next day unless it had been communicated to him that he needed to stay out and he would get the SP job. Then SP decides to go with Holloman and he is odd man out. But sometimes things work out the best for all parties. And may in this case. Union hired Thompson after McManus turned it down. Union beat Chapman on the road, and lost a close game in Upper State to Chester. So Union got back on the map. McManus goes to Spartanburg. Many rumors that it isn't too long before Miller retires. If they do well, makes sense that McManus could take over there. Everybody wins."

Well said Deputy......You are correct on all points in your post.....The game changed when there was a change with the head Principal position at SP. My hope is that things will work out for both coaches.......2019 season will be interesting to say the least.....

I don't think McManus will get the Spartanburg job. It is too attractive of a job and will have plenty of high caliber head coaching applicants when Miller retires. Just like when he got the job (multiple state championships won at Byrnes as a head coach). Spartanburg is one of the best paying jobs in the state. It is becoming more and more rare that coordinators are getting high profile jobs at their current school. Many of them need to take a lower level head coaching job and then move up. Wofford at Northwestern was the exception, however that was after two current/former head coaches turned down the opportunity, plus the timing of Northwestern's hire helped Wofford's case. If the job was posted in January, very likely the pool for the Northwestern job would have been much better.
Right now, Spartanburg is a better job than Northwestern, pays more and brand new school. So their will be plenty of great applicants.
McManus should have taken the Union job. If he would have taken that and had success there, he would be a MUCH better candidate for the Spartanburg job when it opens than as the OC on staff.
Think about it. You are hiring a coach, would you rather have a head coach with multiple state titles, or your very successful OC. Most would pick the first option.

Summerville took second option.

Rock Hill will be the team to beat in Region 3 5 A. Northwestern's O=line is way to small this year. And with their schedule, it will be a physical battle each week....

Rock Hill's defense is stacked....Rock Hill is an example of allowing a coach to build over time instead of cutting the cord when things seem to be going south.....Rock Hill has a solid/ stable Principal and AD who has given Coach Pittman the time and flexibility needed to rebuild the right way...... The Principal and AD (former NW AD BTW) understood the issues and did not pull the plug in years 1 and 2 unlike others.......I hope the same will hold true now at NW with Coach Wofford......Give him time and flexibility to hire the coaches he needs and make the changes he wants to make.....

Both Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach are in 4A region 6 this cycle.

Here's a link to the current classifications and regions, with maps.

Silverfox, those aren't rankings. Those are the teams predicted to win each region championship. And Slick is wrong on at least two of them.
