Y'all come early Friday night and come to down town Newberry for the tree lighting and some snow on the square. I will be working the event and am getting to switch the lights on this year. Now that I know the game is at Setzler Field, I will be there after I'm done downtown.

If anybody needs to know places to eat, park, or anything else let me know.

As far as I know SCHSL has no involvement. It's the responsibility of the designated home team to have/find an adequate facility to play in. I know last year Southside Christian had to spend a lot of money to bring in extra bleachers to meet the seating requirements. Gray will be the one to pay Newberry for use of their facilities.

Oh ok so I wonder what Newberry will charge them then to have the game there. Plus you have to provide security which I would think would be the Newberry PD or whatever sheriff's office is down that way plus you have to have an ambulance there and that won't be cheap either.

From what I'm hearing, Newberry College isn't charging them to much to use the stadium. I'm sure the Newberry city police and the Newberry County sheriff's department will charge them the normal rate they get for covering sporting events. As for as ambulance coverage, they will probably get one of the rescue squads to bring their ambulance and crew over. I'm looking forward to the game, I didn't think I was going to be able to catch a game this week until they moved this one to Newberry.

When the stadium renovations are finished at Newberry College, I hope they will get consideration for hosting the 1A and 2A title games. The upgraded Setzler Field is going to be nice!
