Dorman’s offense has turned explosive, but the defense has led the way, giving up fewer than 10 points per game on the way to the 5A state final.
“Our defense has had a special year,” Gutshall said. “Wade Cooper, our defensive coordinator, is a hard-working guy. Every time I walk by, he’s on the computer. He’s found a way to motivate these kids. We fly to the ball. We don’t have any superstars, we just play hard, and they’re usually in the right place. All you can ask of a kid is to be in the right place and play with great effort, and our defense does that.”
