It doesn't. Greenwood has more talent. Had the wrong regime for a few years. The playoff results say the whole region was bad. I wouldn't put much stock into that. If you made it to the semis then maybe.ChrisHornet wrote:I know so

Yes, Greenwood will be much improved this coming season. I'm glad they hired someone who really knows Greenwood tradition.northside knight wrote:ChrisHornet wrote:Laurens has there new coach. Better watch out for the Raiders this coming year. They could easily take region 2
Sorry to tell you but this region has better teams in it than last year's region 1 5A. Laurens still may have an good team however there's, Greenville, Eastside, Greer is usually pretty good and My boyz of course. The Greenwood teams Laurens has seen the past 6 years have greatly underachieved with Pippen as the coach. Not to take anything from anyone else but the entire Greenwood community is hungry. Pippen starved this town to death of any hardware. Greenwood has been a sleeping giant that's finally about to come out of hibernation. Congrats for getting your new coach.

Liner will get the best player that ever played at Brewer Middle School to play again. He quit football when he got to High School because of Pippin. Liner is already working now at getting the kids that didn't play last year back on the team. Liner cares about the kids in the community.ChrisHornet wrote:Greenwood is going to be a major turnaround it’ll be 3 years before there even back to contention. Laurens has a lot of up and coming players. It’ll be a great region to watch

Pippin losing Dre Butler to Emerald was a travesty. That kid should've been one of the best linemen in the state, maybe even the country.

His name is Kenneth C. He was a beast at Brewer Middle School. He didn't play 9th grade because of Pippin. Heck, a lot of kids didn't play for Pippin the last 3 years. Smh!

seldom does getting the clowns out to play, that wouldn't/didn't play for the previous coach because of __________ result in more than a circus and seldom result in wins
Re: Smith Named Head Coach at Laurens
It does when some of those are really good kids that chose to go to an opposing school. Numbers went down drastically over the last few years. Time will tell. I bet they get more participation this year.bringthewood wrote:seldom does getting the clowns out to play, that wouldn't/didn't play for the previous coach because of __________ result in more than a circus and seldom result in wins

That's every school. Get the right coach that can connect to the players and numbers and talent go up. Get the wrong coach and numbers and talent go down.
Kids can and do change. A player that was labeled a trouble maker by one group of adults, may excel under another group. Have seen it happen. These kids are still forming their identity.
This is 50% of coaching, being able to relate, organize, plan, and execute a program. The other part is play calling; offense, defense, and special teams
Usually, when a school names a new coach, spirits are high, every one gets a fresh start. It's up to the talents of the coach to keep it rolling
Laurens has talent, Greenwood has talent, Greenville has talent, Greer has talent. Which coaching staff will do the most with what they have?

wow, they still teach driver's ed in school, good for them
York County stopped doing it years ago, and now you have to pay a "driving school". 2-3 days of class, 1 day of driving, done, and several hundred dollars out of pocket
