I like both of Coach Jordan's sons and think they'll do very well in the coaching profession. The younger is coaching at the college level. I would take either of then back in Conway!! Just not sure how the majority would feel about that situation. Also not sure how either feel about Conway now. If I was them, I'd rather coach against Conway and take pleasure in kicking Conway's tail!!!
End of Season

Re: End of Season
Well I guess we’ll find out soon enough how true it is. Yeah and at that point in time Conway wasn’t losing all its athletes to Carolina Forest. How many of those 4 title games in a 6 year span resulted in a championship victory for Conway? It wasn’t the X’s and O’s, they had the Jimmy and Joes. Talent carried them a long way. Case in point look where they are now compared to then.Tiger84 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 20, 2021 2:11 pmRight now I assume this is all just a rumor! Jody actually coached in Conway before he was HC at Aynor. He did very well as strength and conditioning coach in Conway. He also was the OC and coached the OL. His previous time here went very well. He was part of the staff that went to 4 title games in a 6 year span.WhoDat wrote: ↑Wed Oct 20, 2021 12:52 pmThis is true, but that job is one of the higher profile spots and shouldn’t settle for less than mediocre in that guy.Tiger84 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 19, 2021 5:38 pmWhoDat wrote: ↑Tue Oct 19, 2021 5:25 pmLoL the future won’t be much brighter when y’all hire Jennerette.Tiger84 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 19, 2021 3:49 pmLet's see.....

Re: End of Season
Oh I agree! I'm not advocating for Jody. Just hoping for something better for the kids than what they have now. The X's and O's really suck now and the Jimmy's and Joe's aren't getting the training and development the use to getting in Conway.WhoDat wrote: ↑Wed Oct 20, 2021 3:08 pmWell I guess we’ll find out soon enough how true it is. Oh and Carolina Forest opened in '97 so yeah they took around 900+ of Conway's student body to draw athletes from.
Re: End of Season
Since that time the attendance lines have shifted some so Conway has as many athletes as before. There’s still some in the city limits that need to come back but we don’t have room at the middle schools for anymore right now. High school can hold 2600 so it’s barely over half capacity. Both middle schools are getting new buildings with 1200 capacity each. One opens in two years. Those other kids will get shifted back so CF will lose some athletes. Also CF will split in the next 5 years or so for overcrowding. Conway is second fastest growing attendance area now behind CF. People moving here like crazy and houses going up fast. In short Conway has the talent they’ve always had. CF opened in 1997 and Conway played in four state title games after that. It’s coaching and developing that’s lacking.

After thinking about it decided best mind my own business wouldn’t want to cause anyone any hurt. I wish the Conway coach nothing but success and happiness no matter how this turns out. Jody G also

Do you know something or just assuming? I saw your post from a couple of weeks ago and we are not overly thrilled about Jody but at this point with the politics at Conway, we’re just happy to see the light at the end of the tunnel. About Tom Knotts, he applied last time and I’m fairly sure there was some contact but no interview. It was a rigged search anyway. I know he has a home in Pawleys Island and wants to finish his career near the coast and retire here. I heard back then he’s had his eye on Conway because Coach Jordan was getting close to retirement. I think we could land him if the administration would give him what he wants to succeed.
Re: End of Season
I haven’t lived down in Conway in a while, but I have followed and it’s hard seeing the program in its current state. Seems like a lot of people want a change and rightfully so. Even hearing the JV is winless is a terrible sign. Four losing seasons and a winless JV team. All I hear is Conway is back this year and another losing season. Conway really needs an outsider and new assistants to come in, not sure keeping it in the fam is always the best thing. The funny thing is if you had a decent coach come in they could win easily at Conway. I find it hard to believe they didn’t even give Tom Knotts an interview.
Re: End of Season
At that point in time, I could have seen Knotts being a real possibility. But not now, for a couple of reason. Knotts is now in his 60s, and maybe retirement isn't too far down the road for him. Plus add to the fact that I don't see anybody beating him the next couple of years. Don't see him leaving that as he loves collecting those rings and may not want to waste a couple years changing the culture at a place like Conway. And he has probably already earned this status, but with each ring he gets it further cements his legacy as the best coach this state has ever seen.
Re: End of Season
I agree that we probably missed our chance last time. However I think Knotts loves winning state titles too much to retire anytime soon. He might be 65 but he looks and acts like he’s 55. His son is 12 so I’m sure he would like to coach his son. Also I can’t see him retiring anytime soon while he’s still on top of his game. You’re right though, somebody’s going to eventually get him but nobody is going to do it consistently. On Conway’s end, the problem here is a select few in and around the program only care about being friends and buddy buddy with the coach and that is holding Conway back. It may seem biased but Conway has the best athletes in the county but no coaching and development with this staff. Talent never has been an issue here. Four state championship games and four additional semifinal games proves it. Conway could very well have 6 or 8 state titles if they had finished the deal. There’s plenty of fan support when you’re winning and the booster club used to be one of the best in the state. Great stadium and field house and field turf will be installed in two years. The county is doing all schools in phases. Yes Knotts would win the first year here but it would take a year or two to win a title I’m sure. Just because it takes time to build from b team on up. Will it happen? I doubt it but for once I’d love to see Conway try and get the best coach available or at least one that can finally maximize the talent here and win the trophy. I’m getting older so my time to enjoy winning one is slipping away.

Re: End of Season
That’s probably so true nor do they wish to admit it’s just not working out. They wanted this hire to work out so bad because he was hand picked to take over after refusing to renew Chuck Jordan’s contract.Tigerific wrote: ↑Thu Oct 21, 2021 8:41 amI agree that we probably missed our chance last time.
