You are correct about one thing though. There's a lot of politics at NA but probably no more than any other school. You just have to know where it's coming from.

Re: Westwood
Every school has its politics, especially once they taste a little bit of success. Then everyone who thinks they know anything starts to chime in and tell you about back when they played and the politics get louder. A multiple State Champion winning coach once told me that "It is just a game that breeds arrogance and too many armchair quarterbacks if you aren't playing". My philosophy has been that if you can't fix the problem then don't become a part of the problem. If you have any former level of football skill then step to the plate and become a part of your program. Coaches for the most part love volunteer help.NAmAN wrote: ↑Mon Jan 31, 2022 7:38 pmYou are correct about one thing though. There's a lot of politics at NA but probably no more than any other school. As far as thugs go I couldn't disagree with that individual on North Augusta more. I have been a part of too many programs in the state where I could show you coaches that teach thuggery based on how they allow their players to act on the field. Sportsmanship has become a lost quality for several teams to this day. I am told when I bring it up that it is just the culture thing, well I am here to say it is a taught thing too!! Just because you can be the 800 lb gorilla in the room doesn't qualify you as having any class.
Re: Westwood
Didn’t they get into an all out brawl a few years ago? I’m pretty sure SA did a few years in a row too. MV did with football and basketball. Aiken County wants to be about class, their actions show otherwise. Any more examples you need sir?
Couldn’t find a meter, but here’s 4 bucks!
Re: Westwood
2017 was the year for brawls at football games. Yes, there was a fight at North Augusta vs South Aiken, and there was an even bigger one at Summerville vs Spartanburg. I was at the later game that year. Over 48 years of watching/participating in football from HS to current I have seen teams fight almost every year. There are teams that like to try and intimidate you with their actions and trying to purposefully hurt players which as I have seen classifies you like a thug. One fight in the past 20 years doesn't qualify in my book!!WhoDat wrote: ↑Tue Feb 01, 2022 8:21 amDidn’t they get into an all out brawl a few years ago? Re: Westwood
It really doesn't matter to me about Midland Valley, Aiken or any other team. NA and South Aiken had a fight as they were shaking hands after a very chippy game in 2017. I was at that game and I felt both teams should have been kicked out of the playoffs. The SCHSL didn't do what they've done in the past. Northwestern and Marlboro County were involved in a brawl in the early 2000's and both were kicked out of the playoffs. So why was NA/SA different? You'll have to ask the SCHSL that. And what about Summerville/Spartanburg. All four should have been eliminated. I've followed NA football for many years and the last time I remember a fight was in 1970 at Brookland Cayce. I can't remember it happening again until 2017 but I may be wrong. So I guess in your mind all teams that fight are thugs. I disagree totally. Not all teams/kids are so called thugs as you have lumped them into. And once again I ask what is your team...sir.Damefan wrote: ↑Tue Feb 01, 2022 1:17 pm2017 was the year for brawls at football games. Re: Westwood
I was at the Summerville game and Spartanburg was acting out from the beginning of that game. That game Spartanburg got the worst end of the deal. They tried to bully Summerville from the beginning and they pushed back. It was a thrilling game to watch but there is no need for the fights regardless of the outcome. Everyone in the stands knew there was going to be suspensions because of the number of altercations. Sparty lost 41-40. Also talking to a coach today that is the son of my HS coach this bitterness began back at a 7on7 camp during the previous summer.NAmAN wrote: ↑Tue Feb 01, 2022 3:37 pmIt really doesn't matter to me about Midland Valley, Aiken or any other team. Re: Westwood
My “bunch of thugs” comment that has seemed to strike a nerve for you personally was in reference to Aiken County as a whole (coaching staff & players), with the exception of a few, but definitely NA included. The fight was just one example. The current AD (former HFC) didn’t have any discipline, that’s why they always had talent but couldn’t do anything with it- i.e. the same year (SA fight) NA #1 seed getting bounced in the 1st round. The NA crowd has always thought better of themselves and walk around with their nose up. If that’s your culture cool, but you’re in that bubble only your crowd likes.NAmAN wrote: ↑Tue Feb 01, 2022 3:37 pmIt really doesn't matter to me about Midland Valley, Aiken or any other team. Re: Westwood
NAmAN, based on a previous post from WhoDat he is a Beaufort Man! Could be the reason he is ragging you, but South Pointe beat them like they beat ya'll with a depleted roster and a temporary Head Coach that did a great job those last 5-6 games.WhoDat wrote: ↑Tue Feb 01, 2022 6:34 pmMy “bunch of thugs” comment that has seemed to strike a nerve for you personally was in reference to Aiken County as a whole (coaching staff & players), with the exception of a few, but definitely NA included. Re: Westwood
He doesn't bother me. In general though, there are very few fans on this board who would like their kids being called thugs. I know Aiken County puts no emphasis on high school sports. Also, him telling me about fights didn't tell me anything I didn't already know. Most people let you know who they pull for because they're proud of them. Apparently he's embarrassed for some reason. I'm proud of all the teams at NA, win or lose. Finally, there are two fans on this board who are very proud of their Beaufort Eagles. They always support Beaufort and they want everyone to know who they pull for. Beaufort had a great season. Yes, Beaufort beat us for what I believe was the first time ever. Good for them. Made the Eagles fans proud. Guess there's a bad apple in every bunch.

Hmmmm.... nice try guy, but not even close! By the way, there's no team affiliation under your name as well. You may want to clarify with Mr. D, NAmAN. The screen shot that you cropped was originally posted by BeaufortEagles and I was responding by congratulating him on his team's accomplishments. . Your temporary head coach has been there forever as well and was supposed to be some kind of offensive know it all. The best thing they could do is go outside and get someone with no connections to the current regime. Good luck bro!Damefan wrote: ↑Wed Feb 02, 2022 12:30 amNAmAN, based on a previous post from WhoDat he is a Beaufort Man!
