96 screwed up
big time when they shafted coach
Brian Neal years ago.he is a lifetime
96 guy.palyed for the Wildcats.If they had
left him alone he would probably have stayed
at 96 all these years and had some good teams.
he came back last year as an assistant coach.he
has put in for the job a couple of times since then.
Don't know if he will this time.I would like to
see coach Neal back as head coach. He would be
my choice.

yes I have heard the bragging as well... and how he twists it is the worst...."For the kids man.." yeah not for your own personal gain...SickeningDo_It_Right!!!!! wrote: ↑Mon Feb 27, 2023 2:50 pmThat was the impression I had also. Neal did return two years ago and has been there ever since as an assistant. Has been living in community again for a long while. He does have the experience and knows the community and players. He took McCormick to state a few years back.

Karma is probably not done with that man yet. Karma will tell him when he's done with him that it was "For the kids man."justaname wrote: ↑Mon Feb 27, 2023 3:19 pmyes I have heard the bragging as well... and how he twists it is the worst...."For the kids man.." yeah not for your own personal gain...SickeningDo_It_Right!!!!! wrote: ↑Mon Feb 27, 2023 2:50 pmThat was the impression I had also. True Karma would put Neal back in charge. I'd vote for it and 99% of the community and players would too I bet. But lets see how this plays out.

Re: 96 head job posted
It is my understand that there are a couple guys that are coordinators in the area that are very interested in the job. One has Ninety Six ties with his dad and has been a head coach. The other is and has been a successful coordinator in the Lakeland's area. I think Ninety Six is a job that is better that Gary Gillion, and better than a retread that has been there and done that. This is my opinion. I know Brian Neal has deep ties, being that he played there under Coach Dula, but he has been there and done that.
Re: 96 head job posted
I agree, not Gillion. There are some coordinators around with Ninety Six ties. Will they stay if successful or will it be a stepping stone to a bigger school. I think head coaching experience is crucial at Ninety Six. A lot goes on besides football there. And we all know Neal didnt get a fair shake the first time around. He has had some success elsewhere. Duncan (saluda asst)has ties(HR director is kin too) Sargent(emerald asst)Driggers (Landrum asst). It will be interesting.

Re: 96 head job posted
I think the DC, Butler, would be interested. He has been a head coach, and has 96 ties. Not sure how. I know he coached for coach Dula and coach Liner. He is a Greenwood boy, so Ninety Six is very close. He has been coached in a few different places, so maybe he would stick around. I have heard his name being talked about some. I think one thing working against the true Ninety Six guys is they have tried that and not sure it has worked the way people thought it should.

Sargent should at least get a look. I think he may be a couple years away from a HC job, but he should at least be considered as OC by whoever comes in.
Heard some former Emerald assistants are sniffing around this opening. One out of state, the other over at Greenwood.

Not real sure why some thinks it is so important to have 96 ties. That is the absolute wrong way to hire a football coach. Maybe you think because of some type of tie to 96 that the coach would never leave with a certain level of success. Forget that. 96 is a stepping stone job. At the first sign of success that attracts any attention that coach will be out the door

Not sure I totally agree but I do understand where you are going. I think the money is what makes it thought to be a stepping stone job. And if history tells us much about Ninety Six is that many coaches go there win and go on to be successful coaches, Dula, Doolittle, Liner or Fall on there face. I also think the Ninety six ties are important because it is a tight community, and they like people they know to have that job.Cover Three wrote: ↑Thu Mar 02, 2023 2:08 pmNot real sure why some thinks it is so important to have 96 ties.
