But it puts the next coach in a bind as he has to deal with previous staff that were a part of the losing, and the jealousy coming from some that no doubt wanted the job.
Whoever the new coach, whether it's Brian Neal or Chris Deal, there will be a friction there. They both want the job and one of them will probably get it.

As much as Neal is deserving, it's not the best fit for anyone currently on staff because of the situation they'll be thrown into.

McMahon's son probably thinks he deserves the job as well because ...nepotism.

They also have a former Clemson player and Greenwood High standout on staff that should not be overlooked.

One should never hire from a losing staff. Never understood why some folks do. Not satisfied with the direction of the program, so let's just double down on someone else that is part of the problem. Emerald needs totally new blood

For them to clean house the Principal will need to create teaching positions for the coach to hire to. He may even need to not renew contracts of those coaches that may create a conflict or undermine the new coach. Either way the situation at Emerald is nasty more so than Greenwood in my opinion. The good thing is new principal and you will find out if they have balls!

It'll be messy.

Deal came back to Emerald for that job. He still has one son playing for the team. His wife is a teacher at the school. If I had to put money on it, he'll get the job because he's knows how to play the politics game.

It's just not the right decision for District 50 to make. He talks a big game, but he's never been successful as a head coach and appears to have a very manipulative hold over that program. It's almost like he's the head coach already...and we see how that's working out.

Chris Deal is not on staff anymore. He is an asst. principal at Westview Middle School. He has gotten out of football for administration and to follow his son at Auburn. Neal is the right choice IMO. Players respond to him.

He's still in those meetings and this could be a very temporary change. His younger son still plays for Emerald.

Jet Turner would have Emerald winning at least 8 or 9 games a year. It would be an instant turnaround with what y'all have. Macmahon doesn't need to retire, he needs to be fired putting that kind of product on the field. Gotta put the politics aside and do what's best for the kids.

Completely agree.

To have this bad of an offense with the size they have up front and the skill players that they have...it's an embarrassment. It seems like he's just riding the lightning.

They are poorly coached and there's no argument against it. They are penalized several times a game and that hasn't changed all season. They also turn the ball over a lot. They've fumbled the ball two or more times in almost every game this season.

Undisciplined = bad coaching

I cheer for Emerald as long as they're not playing gwood. Those kids deserve better much like the situation at Greenwood.

I work with a guy who played for Neal in Aiken. He is real high on him. Said they got better every year and were primed to win region before a ridiculous amount of injuries stopped their season. Aiken has won once since he left.
