Daniel just enjoy the championship my friends. Daniel is amazing but I am inclined to agree that Dutch Fork is on a Different level. Listen. We here at Dillon had Avery Mccall(Young man NEVER lost a game he FINISHED in in 4 years). 4 straight titles(2012-2015). Best QB I've ever seen take a High school Football field. Man had eyes in the back of his head. Dillon wanted you to blitz him he had the sickest pocket prescence I'd ever seen. Could throw 60 yards with both feet planted(insane). He had the BEST hard count ever too. He would routinely draw the other team offsides aobut 7 times a game. We played Mallard Creek back in 2013 who was ranked #10 in the country at the time. Avery Killed them. He got hurt at the beginning of the 4th. They beat us 27-21. Had Avery finished i KNOW we would NOT have lost that game. Mallard Creek PROMPTLY waited until Avery graduated before they played us again. Even the Mallard Creek coaches said they were helpless on the sideline(lol). in 4 years that was the ONLY loss he had. I STILL don't count it because he didn't finish the game. Why did I say all of that. At the time Dillon seemed nearly unbeatable. Man we had talent ALL OVER THE FIELD. But things turned kind of quickly. A resurgence is on the way.I believe that the 2022-2024 Dillon Teams from what I am hearing will be the best we've ever fielded.(That's huge considering what we've had). Why am I saying this?? Just enjoy the moment Daniel guys. It seems like it will always be like this. Trust me. It won't. Just enjoy the title

We definitely will enjoy the title until someone takes it away from us. But the future is bright we have a great middle school program and the JV teams usually win the region title, this past years team went undefeated. If the best Dillon teams are yet to come then that is scary for the whole 3A classification. Hopefully the next few state title games will be Dillon vs Daniel.

I appreciate your enthusiastic optimism, Nastycat. You had high praise for this year's team too, they were not bad, but no where near the caliber of teams past.
THIS IS LITERALLY THE TEAM. The Entire Offensive Line is all Seniors. The entire Wideout Core is Seniors.(Top to bottom has a chance to be the west WR core we have ever had). We have 3 backs in the backfield Including Nemo Squire who is legit squatting 525 lbs and has really worked on his speed and conditioning, Nigel George(the little bullet) who is a handfull and Qushod Singleton. 2 Quarterbacks battling for the job. A WHOLE host of defensive players back.
This year's defense was horrendous. Probably one of the worst ever, not to mention special teams. No kicking game what so ever.
Hope you're right about the upcoming teams living up to the standard of teams past. Hopefully, the new coach can renew the catalyst that you spoke of.

LOL That 2022-2024 comment came from the coaches themselves. I believe they know a little something about that type of stuff(lol) Sometimes things don't come together. I felt like things just didn't come together this year. We had the talent in my opinion.

Flora, Daniel, Abbeville may all want DF to see what the hype is all about...
Chirping aside, second best team in the state...including Flora, Daniel, Hanna etc.... again I have to admit, Sumter. Hat's off to Sumter. Great team full of grown men. All look about 25....need to check birth certificates. 5A programs to watch....Carolina Forest and River Bluff. Those guys are good.
Benedict College put the Hanna-DF game online. Could not watch it at the time it was played. Raining buckets, and I am sure Coach Knotts would have rather waited, but played it any way. On a dry field it would have been an unmerciful beating. Biggest differences were team speed and OL/DL control of the line of scrimmage.
All that and mostly Juniors and Sophomores. Next two years I think will be special for DF.
DF is 64-1-1 over the past 5 seasons. DF is the perfect storm for talent pool, resources, and most important coaching staff. Knotts has won 13 state titles in NC (7) and SC (6) in 38 seasons. Has unbeaten streaks of 109 in NC and 50 in SC.
Have to see how many state titles Abbeville, Daniel and Flora can string together this time. Abbeville can probably rattle off another 3 in a row if they want to...not many 2A teams can hang. I think Southside Christian may rattle off a few. Little tougher for Flora and Daniel with teams like South Pointe, Irmo, Myrtle Beach, Dillon, Wren and Chapman hanging around, but we shall see.
Flora and Daniel lose more Seniors than DF, which seems odd given the size of DF's roster... Not sure what happened ...injuries, moves, or just COVID fearing parents saying no to football.
Good luck to all next season....except Gaffney, Fort D., Byrnes, and Summerville...lol.
